A new faction?

  • A new faction “True Mercenary” where you could do quest protecting NPC ship sailing to another point. As well as other ships sailing from different outpost carrying loot. A quest to maybe, hunt down a ship and sink them, player or NPC. If you happen to sink too many of the random NPC ships they may send the “Mercenaries” commanded by the new faction leader and come after you as a mini fleet.

    With Krakens and megs being so easy would be nice to actually have a higher chance to be sunk by them. Also putting in a bounty system for players to sink other ships, making a ship that has a high bounty known and getting rewarded for sinking them maybe even then could put a bounty on yourself, the said bounty can be claimed with a letter to a nearby outpost confirming that you sunk the bounty ship. It's all about making the world feel more alive and populated.

    Also would like to see more done with the Arena zone in Adventure whether it be a peace area or not give people other ways to meet up, and play. I always said to play Arena you had to physically take a boat there and realistically loading into the game then loading in Arena and waiting to play a match is a lot just to play an Arena match and not worth the time.

    I’ve always told everyone I play with that card games, dice and poker would be fun to have in the game for mini-games, maybe tables at Arena and in taverns could have sets you could play maybe even a table on the ship. Being able to duel your crew while sailing. Sailing in the dead wind can be boring other than fishing having things to do on the boat while sailing.

  • @xziraider pvp bounties in adventure are a no go for me, too big of a chance for abuse.
    pve bounties for angering the locals I can do.

    From a lore standpoint, where is this mercenary company based out of?

  • @captain-coel With like a bounty I want it to work more with like the reapers mark, not everyone wants to use the flag however if a boat sinks ships over and over they get a bounty and it makes it where other ship to may want to "alliance" to team up on the bully ship I guess, or an entice ships to sink a ship with a bounty for rewards or loot. I want more ways to get into fights while doing adv mode.

    With lore, I'm not sure I'm not really creative in creating stories.

  • I have thought about something similar. Like my favourite pirate show black flag and historically pirates used to have to obtain information about fat merchant ships or treasure galleons to steal sellable goods or gold I think Rare could incorporate something similar to this in the game. Relatable to the fort of the dammed where it is player summoned but you have to do a voyage/quest to summon a very difficult fleet with a large amount of treasure. Could even use the skelly ship armada signal to show all players on the server it has been summoned. not only would the player have to worry about attacking the treasure galleon but other ships as well looking to steal the work of summoning along with the loot. The PVP is amazing in this game but the naval pvp should be expanded on a little more. A Man of War would be a great introduction into the game with this idea, with a few escort ships.

    Like the idea but I would call it “The Rogue Privateer” faction.

    Add a bunch of human NPC players and you would get a bounty if you attacked them with a NPC bounty hunter after you. You could gain reputation by guarding these NPC ships from roaming skeleton ships or simply sink skeleton ships.

    The skeleton ships do their best to take the place of mercenaries and a navy force, with raidable fortresses containing vaults full of treasure, fleets in open water which attack those who venture near, roaming ships loaded with treasure (especially merchant crates), and random emergent ships which come out of nowhere to ambush and sink ships randomly.

    Krakens and megalodons need another buff, as a section of the community has asked for them to be made nearly nothing long ago, and Rare obliged. It is obvious that was a mistake. As for bounties, I'll leave that for elsewhere.

    The Sea Dog Tavern was originally intended to be capable of starting an Arena match, loading you into the Arena server directly from an Adventure one. This functionality remains to be seen.

    Gambling is a long-requested and awaited feature, as is dueling. Rare have seen and acknowledged both, but they are not as easy to create or balance as fishing.

    I also like @McP3nguin 's idea of a large fleet event similar to the FotD in mechanics. As for adding some form of man-o-war (frigate would be a better name), not sure. It'd have to be balanced out for some time in testing, as the existing ships were. However, given that the galleon was worked on for upwards of a year, it could take some time.

  • @mcp3nguin bringing up the whole naval pvp they need to change the Meta imo get shots and board I want more ship battles I was so mad the took being able to drop anchor forcing more ship based combat before a boarding if at all.
