Play music to stop the chest of sorrow from crying.

  • I think it would be a good idea if you could play music to stop the chest of sorrow from crying. I had a friend who was told it worked, but it didn't. He was told it had to be happy music and not sad music. I asked the discord if it was true and it wasn't. But they said I could suggest it to be a feature so here I am, asking for this to be a feature. The chest of sorrow is really either sit on a ladder or bail water, but there isn't really a way to stop it except just wait. What if that time gets reduced by music.

  • They told me the same thing when I started playing. OMG, how many times have I been shipwrecked because of this chest? Weeping times

  • @masterspidert I would rather a new cursed chest that’s like a snake and makes a cloud of poison every 20 seconds or so, and the only way to make it chill out would be music. More cursed chests with different effects I think would be the best course of action.

  • I think we need to make it a habit to check the SoT Wiki when there is something we don't know about this game. I absolutely loathe how much unnecessary misinformation gets spread around this game, because you can get frustrating open crew scenarios where you join in at the near end of a journey, for the crew to then raise the emissary flag as they're turning in, since they believe that just having the flag up at Grade 1 means you make more money. (Nowadays this is a habit for haul stealers to raise their emissary value whenever they get the chance because lol no pve for them)

Stuff like this is where you need to look up the item and learn about what it does. Once it starts crying, it doesn't stop until it wants to. Until then, bucket your boat and moderate the sound of the chest crying while voyaging to prevent sinking your ship. There isn't much you can do to mitigate that outside of hanging on the ship's ladder while holding the chest, which requires a crewmate if you're trying to not sail into a rock or an island.

  • He’s just really sad. I don’t think you can stop him. 😭

  • @scurvywoof :(

  • @ninja-naranja that does sound like a good idea. I'm not sure about the cloud of poison though. Could other ships possibly see it, and depending on what it would do might not be a good idea or it might be a good idea. I do think a snake chest would be a good idea for it though. But I also think that playing music is also fitting for the chest of sorrows because it is sad. But it doesn't cheer it up completely and the cooldown before it cries again will be decreased so it cries more often if you choose to play music.

  • @maironds88 must be a common thing.

  • @nex-stargaze people really do need to start looking things up to understand if something they heard is misinformation or not. I asked the discord for this one because I highly doubted I'd be able to find it on the wiki even if it did exist.

  • @masterspidert yea if you have a Chest of Sorrow just put someone on watching and bucketing water until you can turn it in on a side note it’s great for sinking skeleton ships

  • I'd love to see this set as a feature in the future

  • bye bye its locked

  • Can I ask is this request just for a fun additive, or do you think it solves a problem. As having one player unable to do anything as they're playing shanties doesn't seem any different to having them sit on the ladder or bucketing if it's a smaller ship that's easy enough to do, so not really worth it in my opinion as I don't feel it adds much to the game
