funny how many agree but when i said this in the beta everyone defended it.
sometimes i hate this community. -.-
@smashywashy I just got killed, please remove all other players from this game!
Aww f**k.. Sharks are OP! too. kill in 2 hits? iono about that. Plus they never drown! They can stay underwater forever and not be seen? it's like hax! Pls remove them :D
And the moon - it's too dark at night, pls remove nightime.
Things I would like added to the game:
Kittens!
Soft pillows for PvP pillow fights.
Rainbows.
All the weapons can stay. They just aren't all viable for every activity, obviously. They're tools. The buss is just the best tool in the box by a good margin for killing other players. If we want other weapons to compete, tweaks in play style and/or program code will have to be made. This is only my opinion from testing during alpha/beta and having played since launch of the retail version.
The best defense against the buss is range, movement speed and choice of battle ground. Don't chase someone below decks if possible. Tight quarters fights are not in your favor.

I saw a boat earlier, they had some smelly people on them, remove boats too!
The pistol is a plenty competent weapon. Its range alone makes it a worthy competitor. It's not for me but I've been wrecked by a pistol user at ranges I couldn't hit because I usually run blunderbuss/sword. I've also definitely killed more players and skeletons with my sword than my blunderbuss. The real issue is that the sniper is completely worthless. There's nothing good about it.

Couldn't agree more, the Pistol outranges the Blunderbuss (which is why the Buss is an effective weapon for boarding ships, but has little impact on land combat).
The sniper is in an odd spot. I only really use it when we have the occasional island cannon firing on us, or to take out a fort-gunner or two. I've yet to find much use for it in PvP. However I'll wager if I committed some time to learning it and getting the hang of countering the wobble of the sea, I may have some success. Just not sure i'd enjoy that process much.
Ohhh please. No, no way.
It's too much fun... you're basically saying that you can't use it properly, if you don't like it use a pistol, it's very good too, just a different style.
Blunderbuss for boarding and repelling boarders.
Pistol for skill shots and keeping blunderbus users at bay.
Sword is great for everything.
Keep your block held with the sword, dodge after baiting a blunderbus to fire, close and kill or lunge. Just takes practice, learn the ropes with skellies.
Another good trick with sword and pistol is to dodge backwards, switch to pistol and shoot, back to sword, dodge to the side and do a 3 hit combo, if the blunderbus fella tries to chomp a banana hit him with a lunge instead.
Sword is really the best weapon in the game in skilled hands.
The blunderbuss is strong, no argument there. Being able to one shot is extremely strong.
But it also has severe disadvantages and only really works well if you stand almost in front of someone.
I have used the blunderbuss by default for a while after release. Now I am running with the pistol as default most of the time.
When I know that I will be going very up close such as boarding, I will switch to it but generally prefer the pistol for its versatility.
The range is far superior. Picking someone off in the water is great. When next to another ship you can actually take out players with it really well, while they shoot at you with their blunderbusses and merely scratch you.
I have noticed that a lot of players actually backpedal or otherwise try to get range between you when they see you are not holding a sword, which is also great for the pistol. 😉
