Sorry i was responding to this post you said, then I sort of paraphrased instead of clarifying.
@Gloog
Why do you want a reward though? You cannot even actively hunt these creatures.
So the reason why I feel a reward should exist, is because it gives you a reason to WANT to fight it when it actually happens. As it stands if you have fought either of them once, you might as well have fought them a hundred times. Sure the first time you experience it you get a cool story or get "the feels." but thats it. Anything beyond the first fight you (or me in this case) just don't care and will sail out of it and avoid it.
I don't recall if it was this thread or another on this particular topic but they said "the journey makes the best rewards." I disagree, Rewards make the best rewards.
I don't want it to be something you can actively hunt, they should still be random encounters. But should you succeed at said encounter there should be some left over reward, skulls/glinting treasure/messages in bottles (that reward better than average loot) Something... Otherwise people will just avoid it because it slows down their voyages.
Seriously this game doesn't need more rewards. There's no risk to anything, since there's no cost and no penalty to anything. If the game had actual penalties, the kraken and Megs would be way "scarier" because they could be the reason for making it or not.
Hopefully their AI system is "learning" like they stated earlier and these encounters get tougher over time, I don't know. But you are right in the sense these "threats" aren't very threatening.
There's just no thrill in this game, because your ships are practically immortal and even if you go full sudoku, you still lose nothing.
I mean i guess? The only thrill is when your hunting players, or being hunted IMO (and even still only when you have loot*)
But to paraphrase, they should change/add/update these mythical monster encounters so there is a reason to fight back, vs sail and evade.
