I think that we need a private server.
Why? Well i thaught you could grind money and reputation. You could allso have fun with you and your friends only, instead of people ruining your raid at a skeleton fort, or after gaining lots and lots of loot. Just an suggestion :\
Private server?
@electrhino9161 Would a private server really be all that fun?
If implementated, Rare would have to disable achievements, loot, reputation, gold and commendations (in these private servers) to follow some form of a Terms and Conditions outlined by Microsoft.
@thetwistedtaste i don't think that is the case exactly. battlefield and ea have made a big hit out of private servers, providing a good revenue stream and SOME control for the player base. as long as the fundamental rules aren't changed stats count just the same.
of course if someone ran a 1 or 2 ship server achievements would be disabled, but who really cares about the gold. maybe make athena exclusive to rare servers.
i could see clans and large friend bases wanting to own servers. gameplay wise i would absolutely gravitate to them if we could increase the server population as part of a setting.@electrhino9161 Will not happen and should not happen. It's not hard to accomplish what you need to do. What fun would a private server be. That is not what this game was designed for. Looking over your shoulder all of the time is the best part about SoT. See a ship in the distance you can flee until your stalker gets bored. Or say skrew it and go full steam towards them. Then it's up to you attack or see if they are friendly. The way you can make each session different is why I play this game. A private server would take out the unexpected and pretty much the reason to play (but this is my opinion).
I think this request might be a joke. Grinding rep and gold without other players would seriously undermine the game. Public servers would only be filled with people seeking PVP but very few players would have anything of value. They would have to disable factions, commendations, achievements, and so on. The Battlefield argument does not work. Even in Battlefield, both teams need to have a minimum number of players for a match to count and you are pitted against one another. You could not possibly advance in the game with a single squad with just one team in a private Battlefield server.
I think there are many good reasons to have private servers, but this is not one of them. At least not the part about going after forts. Forts are a high risk area for PvP and the threat of someone coming along and taking you on is part of the excitement in doing a fort in the first place. I think I could see a strong argument for doing PvE events with friends. But doing other things in game without the threat of PvP would diminish the accomplishment entirely. If they did offer such a venue as private servers, I think that the only fair thing to do would be to reduce the rewards gained on those servers. Reduced gold and reduced rep.
I understand why you would ask for a private server, if it is for PvE content. But forts simply are not solely PvE.
for me, it's not a bad idea, to reduce rewards and other things are b******t, in the private servers the progresses are not synchronized with the official ones, being realistic this game is not what is said a good experience, everyone is just fighting they see, then you can not expect to enjoy a content pve that in itself is poor, if this happened would open the door to other players, all games that pursue a stereotype of players / community are being left almost abandoned, but only my point of view.
@ollieoxenfree Why? Just because you don't like it people should stop suggesting it? Other people like the idea. I have an idea: Everyone start asking for private servers, see how many of these Landlubbers we can draw out! XD!
@ollieoxenfree No its fine. However there are people who don't have the time available to get to pirate legend in a reasonable amount of time, that's why I think it would be a good idea.

Then don’t earn it. Not everyone will get there. Why do you feel entitled to reach pirate legend without doing what others did? If you want it you will do the work.

In what way would Private Servers change peoples available time to play?
@biter-wylie Adjusting the rep and gold multipliers so can get there in an hour. Why is this a question?
I think the issue is more of newer players grinding reputation while becoming prey to legendary pirates that don’t have much to do besides bully the lessor vessels. I am at the lower end of the reputation scale and have fallen victim to these pirates numerous times. It is very annoying but it is expected in all games that do not have a PVP filter. Toxic players will always be toxic as long as they have the option.
Why is the community opposed? that is, since a private server does not synchronize with the officers, what does it matter on your server, or are you afraid that the environment will become too toxic (which is already so) before the migration of players who want to play on their own server.
the pirate legend is just a "title" that when you arrive you just play the first week of events and leaving the game for the next event, for me it's a good idea, you can practice your skill in all facets of the game, you can do Crossings with friends or children, you can explore in search of relics, chests, bottles, etc ... without having to meet anyone. And do not be stubborn, never a dedicated server is synchronized with an official server.
also the only thing that would happen is that there would be nobody working in trabesias to loot and that seems to give you fear, in this case you work too, collaborate with the game community, I am sure that more than half of the returns are they turned to ruined experiences.
In this game apart there is no diplomacy, just combat strength and that makes the game more monotonous.

I am beginnng to think you are just trolling. You cannot be honestly suggesting people be allowed to tweak a private server so they can jump to PL with the time it takes to complete a couple of voyages.

I am just not seeing Player Legends bullying players. Many times I have seen PL’s assist others. Sure there are some sailors who just want to Pirate every opportunity, but it would be boring if they were not around to keep you on your toes.
I have played Solo from Launch. I have been sunk and looted less than 10 times that whole time. You just have to be more aware of your surroundings shipmate.
@biter-wylie I suppose it may vary. Each time I’ve encountered true pirates, they have had the Legendary title. To you point, there are those that do help others.
I am not deterred by the piracy. That’s what this game is after all. But I usually log off after completing a round of 5-6 island voyages only to be sank before making it back to an outpost to cash in. That’s the frustrating part.@meltdown-666366
Again bad because you take away the core design of the game, the social interaction and danger of unknown people. This game is build around the social aspect of the game and other players being the thread to your progress. You want to disable that, fine. But no gains for it.
The only thing they should add is to add an option to invite a second ship to your server so friends can join. But no more than two crews of friends together.
Under my experience I will tell you that this game is dying to your community, not to the idea of having private servers, all in the forums talk about interaction with others, but be honest, the only interaction is combat and boarding, with which in 1 of every 10/20 encounters are peaceful and constructive, in games with this "freedom" of action they end up taking it to the deriba, so that having private servers would be an alternative to such a toxic interaction.
on the progress of levels, it can be left as it is, taking into account that private servers do not synchronize with the official, and that is something that the community does not understand.
also the impression that is being given in this thread is that there seems to be fear that players who do not want meetings or have meetings only with friends migrate from the game making the official servers become so toxic that nobody wanted to play.
