Please add true optional crossplay. I can't enjoy the game at the moment

  • Please add true optional crossplay to adventure mode. I can't play the game and enjoy it because I just get stomped by PC players with their perfect aim and all that jazz.

I really enjoy this game. I love sailing. It's relaxing. But I just can't enjoy it because I'm so on edge that I'm going to come across a PC player. They always just spawn camp me or just spam jump and dodge while perfectly nailing me. It's just not fun.

Before people come here and tell me to git gud or stop being a baby, shhhhh. This is a feedback/suggestion thread. This isn't a debate thread. People always say "but fighting PC players are easy" which is just a lie or you must be god tier, because they have every advantage over us Xbox players. If people still want crossplay, they can enable it!

  • @spartanmatt0x don't let them get near you, in ship-battle PC players have no advantage at all, just when in a man to man fight they can use theyr advantage...so as long as you keep your eyes at the horizon and no ship is able to come near you it doesn't matter where they are playing...
By the way, the optional crossplay exists at the moment just in arena

  • @schwammlgott but it needs to be in adventure!

And I try to keep my distance, but they still get on. I'm a solo sloop, and somehow people can just sneak up on me and ram my ship and jump on then just start spawn killing me. I understand I'm generally a bad player at this game, but PC players still have a severe advantage in on foot combat which happens often

  • @spartanmatt0x just record them and report them for unsportsmanlike behavior. Taking resources I don't have an issue with, but continuing to spawn camp after everything is depleted is a large problem.

This is not a pc vs xbox problem. I do not think your suggested solution will fix the spawn camping plague.

This feedback/suggestion has already been mentioned a couple of times the last few days, no need for a new threat every day.

Apart from that spawncamping happens to us PC players too, and yes this also is done by XBOX players......

  • @spartanmatt0x i think it's good to have it in arena, but for adventure there's no need for optional crossplay...I'm most time a solo-slooper too, if someone get's me it was my own fault or they deserved it...

  • @spartanmatt0x Just because its "feedback/suggestion thread" it dosent mean i cant call out nonsense, perfect aim give me a break its not Call of Duty PirateEdgeLord 90% of the fights are in tiny crowded places and pc players spawn camp you?
Who says its pc players every player does that if he can to prevent you from fixing and trying to gain control you can scuttle the ship if you are giving up and why do you blame pc players? pathetic.
Our "advanteges are soo tiny its just salty players who act like we have godlike settings and lets go back to aim and movment you know that you can raise your sensitivity right?
Its what most of us do takes time to get used to it but it is the only way so can you.
What else are you going to blame us for short loading times? there is a word for that SSD and you can get that too, " but i dont want to pay extra" no one does but we choose to get it to enjoy the game better and if we buy so you can aswell for the price of new xbox youll get a pc that wont even be able to run Sea of Thieves so dont complain.
Let me see what other myth i can clear right here right now, ive heard somone claiming we have field of view XD

  • @spartanmatt0x I am a PC player that has what, 75% accuracy, and that is because people run in straight lines towards me when I have a gun out. We aren't gods thank you very much, I would advise just getting good at the game and in no time (assuming you can get over your attitude about us) you will be annihilating everyone since almost everyone is epicly bad at the game. (and yes fighting PC players is easy, the people that I fight that are not just getting steamrolled by me are just actually coordinated (im assuming they are on PC due to movement etc, no idea if they actually are) and are actually half competent at the game. If you want to experience some real pvp let me know, I can help you get good at it (I do mostly solo most of the time anyways and still annihilate people) if you can get over your attitude that all PC players are gods and that you cant beat them.

  • @spartanmatt0x
If you don't want discussion, why did you come to a forum? Also, I think it's coming, but it will be a preference so that no one has empty servers. Also, there are almost no advantages from pc, and mouse and keyboard can be countered by turning your sensitivity up.

nope I don't want it for adventure mate it doesn't need it so a big nope from me I'm on Xbox and sometimes I do get spawn camped but I get over it try and kill who ever is on me ship and sometimes I do sometimes I don't ,I don't know for sure if they are pc players mate

Do we really need multiple new crossplay threads each day?

These posts always seem to gain many replies. Love em or hate them. I don't see them stopping anytime soon whilst the topic appears to be effecting peoples gameplay experiences. People will feel the need to post about it. Thats part of what a forum is for?

They can post their complaint in an already existing thread on the front page, No need to repeat the "problem" when the same issue is actively being discussed on the front page in another thread. It's like making a new thread for every comment...

In my opinion they should lock all these threads and put them in a megathread.

  • This seems to be a complaint about PvP in general (re: I just like sailing around), and not specifically about PC players.

  • The threads often get many responses and eventually locked as it often gets a bit heated and out of control.. Can't say I've seen this OPs comments before in a crossplay related thread, so they must've had something to say and felt the need to create a thread to say it. No harm there.

Check the OP's posts he has. This "feedback" is just spamming the forums and drowning the real feedback threads. So yes harm in there, they don't add anything.

@DrBullhammer Yeah I get that people will still do this, but it's up to moderators to shut down (and possibly delete) those topics as fast as possible and direct them to the megathread.

  • @jimzir
Ah well, just don't read it then.

Ps. I will be making a crossplay related thread soon too on a disparity between platforms that exists and can not be debunked.

    The proof is out there!!

  • @needsmokes Looking forward to it if it really can't be debunked and you have proof.

  • Probably coming Thursday as I need time to create a video just to show what I have been testing on my Xbox and pc. And how pathetically slow controller swordplay is in comparison with M&K

Your a single player in a multi-playeer game.
You are the most disadvantaged player in the game.
You made the choice to nerf yourself.
It is not just pc players that have an advantage on you. Any pirate with a friend has an advantage on you.

  • You think they will make it happen just because you made this thread? theres almost daily threads from people losing loot to other crews and instead of improving and learning from their mistakes they rather put the blame on PC players even if they aren't sure on what platform they were on.

  • The same matchmaking preference added to arena will come to adventure in time. It will most likely be the same preference option, not a hard split. A preference option is the fairest way to implement this soft separation.

All good things comes to those who wait, hang in there! In the meantime, join crews, meet people, find strength in numbers.

  • This crutch excuse needs to disappear. Person that doesn't even know how to play the game thinks the big bad PC boogie men are keeping them from having any fun. Are you happy now?

Being against xbox only isn't going to save you from spawn camping if you are oblivious about your surroundings. Somehow they sneak up on you? You mean they sailed over / shot over and you didn't bother checking frequently enough and were to focused on your task to notice. If you believe that there are no PvP xbox players camping and sinking others you are naive, optional crossplay will not change your predicament.

On top of that you play solo? This is the most difficult crew size to PvP with. If by your own accord you are bad at the game, maybe look for a crew or accept the fact that you have to put in the effort to get better if you don't want to be ambushed.

You are just trying to point blame on a part of the community and perpetuate a misconception that this isn't on you, but on them. #BeMorePirate the seas are a treaterious, dangerous place especially alone. Never let your guard down and do not allow strangers on your ship, else you will be camped... regardless of the equipment you use, especially as a solo.

You severely underestimate your fellow pirates on xbox if you believe that the only thing keeping you from being the victor is the machine that the other crew is using. Learn, improve and master before you start making claims about the inability of xbox players to stand their ground against the PC "elite", which you are severely overestimating on average.

Will you include the advantages like haptic feedback on controllers, the better cannon control and such on the other end. With a balanced evaluation of upgrades available for xboxes, differences in PC setups and a fair assessment. As I said before in other topics, there are differences, but it isn't all one sided nor as detrimental as many claim.

Or it is just going to be another one of your bash PC based on the best rigs on the market and legends with Pro-Gaming experience vs xbox one original and a sailor, as the benchmarks?

  • @cotu42

I will be featuring 1V1 combat, And will show M&K Vs Controller (elite) as much as is required.
Because I have used both and there is a big difference.
THERE REALLY IS AN EASY MODE! NO WONDER YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE CROSSPLAY!!

I'll leave the exploiters on PC for another day. No need for tears.

Just going to make use of the new creator content given to us and will research how to use it effectively to showcase what Rare know and continue to sweep under the carpet.

  • I haven't anticipated a comedy this much since Paul Blart 2.

This again? Sigh, Whatever helps you sleep at night bud.

  • @bloodybil

After spending some time on my PC using a M&K. Yes. I'm sticking with that. It's true. There are things you can do that you just can't do with a controller, and it can win you fights.

Optional crossplay needs to happen on adventure. I'm more certain than ever before. It's a joke Rare have treated Xbox users like this for so long now. They know the disparity exists. But don't want to make their streamers upset by taking away their content.

  • @jimzir
They had a megathread, but it became so bad for the same reason these threads get locked repeatedly - toxicity, which devolved into insults.

    @NeedSmokes
Oh, this attempt again? Swordplay is no different on either platform. Unless you can't press the trigger as fast as you can press a mouse button, it's the same speed, and I'm fairly sure you likely can press it as fast as you need to. You can't get any quicker on either platform, since there is a lock to the speed of strikes built into the game itself, rather than into the input mechanism or the machine. That speed lock doesn't care or even know how you input the strike, it only knows to stop you from doing more before the time limit is up.
There is no 'easy mode', there is someone who is under the effects of an induced placebo and is better at one input method than the other. Get a person who's used an M&K their whole gaming life and a person who's used a controller their whole gaming life, who are rated at similar skill in terms of reaction time, knowledge of game mechanics, remove all issues lag-based disparities, as those are not platform-based, and evaluate several battles, in both 1v1-4v4 and unbalanced scenarios, and then come back with your findings in an unbiased manner. I'll be awaiting it.

  • Someone made a thread explaining every advantage PC has over Xbox.

I have been doing PvP for the past few days and I’ve been fortunate enough to encounter a lot of Xbox players!

However yesterday I had a few PC players I mistakenly went after and the comparison was ridiculous!! They could shoot me when I was in the water and they were on their ship (and the waves were ridiculously choppy - so AKA, their accuracy was ridiculously spot on and I apparently can’t shoot for the life of me), I couldn’t track them and despite my best efforts I STILL died after a few very short seconds in CQC, compared to when I’ve been against other Xbox players.

I do believe opt out will be coming to Sea of Thieves adventure mode at some point however, so we have to hold out until then.

  • @needsmokes

1 vs 1 combat, I assume you are going to speak in isolation about CQC in that case right? Will you distinguish versus island and ship? Therefore you are going to be highlighting the aspects of a mouse and keyboard versus a controller, which by all means are available for both platforms may I add, in one aspect of combat and not even the most important one.

Yet... the importance of the: Bildge Rat (Navigator, Repairman and Canon), Deckhand (Sails, Canon, Ladder defence, secondary boarder), Helmsman (Steering, Sails, Canon, Ladder defense) shouldn't be underestimated. There is more than just a Boarder (CQC specialist and kegger).

Combat in Sea of Thieves revolves around more than just that. We have multipler roles that need to be covered in actualy pirate combat. You know the one where the stakes are actually on the line, where the last one still floating is the victor.

Controllers have the better feedback when it comes to the ship, the more natural flow and nuance when it comes to the ship meachnics and controls. I know, 'cause guess what I also tried it out. These aspects are usually overlooked by the anti-PC advocates, while they are very useful in the roles required on the crew and in solo play are in my opinion way more important.

Additionally as they are the defenders, they have the opportunity to strike together and using their numbers versus that one sole pirate, with a single life. In mutiple vs one, those CQC advantages might get one of you down but all 3... then you are just being outclassed and not by a small margin or you are making grave mistakes.

Yes out of the 4 roles in a Galleon, the PC shines the most as the face of the crew. The Boarder! The ability to aim quicker with a gun is an advantage, learning to play at high sensitivity is more difficult on a controller and voila the advantage is there. That doesn't mean xbox cannot stand their ground, till this day the best boarder I have known was a Xbox gamer... that man was skilled.

Yet, the other 3 roles also need a player: the bildge rat and helmsman get better feedback on a controller. There are many that prefer a controller as input device, because it sails nicer.... which is also a major part of combat, chases and strategy. The deckhand is more a 50/50 split, based on their style be it shipmate or more of a boarder. Each of these roles are a vital part in a crew.

If we want to talk about solo play in combat, where most of these complaints come from. I might be on a PC, I might even have all these so CQC advantages, while using a keyboard and mouse. Yet, when I am solo I fight like a pirate should: out on the seas. I rarely leave my ship in the presence of other pirates (situational), I avoid being boarded or removed from my ship at all costs and I outsail my opponents, if needed for hours, while cannons are roaring both ways.

All those CQC advantages, are used to stand above my ladders and shoot a target on the ladders or slicing them off my ship... which is just as easy on a controller. Anyone can be overpowered by multiple targets, taking on a full barrage from a galleon while anchored is fatal and a single death can end up in a loop with 3 or 4 guys awaiting your return. I might not sink you in 3 mins flat, but in all likelihood I will be the victor at the end if you just drop that ball once and lose composure.

In the end if you want to go towards not 'average' pirate, but the elite, the PRO vs PRO! Min/Max performance with the best rigs, the best setups, the best skill... there might be a difference, but lets be honest how many people play like that? Shouldn't we unite a community based on the average player you come across rather than the best vs the best and the little difference... cause guess what even there the win % of a PC pro vs Xbox pro will not be much higher than 55% and the majority of us are nowhere near that skill cap yet.

If you start about FPS... advocate for the cap to be increased, a 1080 support with a higher cap or an adjustment on xbox support. Why not fight to get graphics setting to increase the FPS and get better performances out of your machines maybe at the cost of visuals like PCs can do, rather than fight to get the PC players removed.

If you go on about latency... then you are just clueless, as geographical location and provider have way more impact than any equipement card.

Finally, please quite it with the: EASY MODE! EASY TARGETS! YOU JUST WANT EASY TARGETS! You have brought this up and it is just not true and why are you even implying it? You are the one here asking to be not facing more difficult targets in your opinion. You are the one going on about how PC players are to strong for you, how you want to be only facing what is in your opinion the 'weaker' gamers.

I do not see xbox players as a lesser gamer, I see them as equals and I have been WRECKED by xbox players and I have no shame in admitting it. Those guys were just better than me... or was it the fact that they were using controllers. Seriously... it is just a non-sense argument based on your own opinion on how bad controller players are and your admiration of the elite PC crew... which sadly most of the PC players aren't a part of.

Sticking with what? Interpreting and projecting your thoughts on a whole community? I don't want an easy mode, I want full seas with all kinds of players, as I was sold. I don't get to choose my opponents, I take what I get.

When they do end up adding a matchmaking preference to adventure, if I end up sailing with only PC players around, I won't care as long as the matchmaking isn't as screwd up as in arena and don't end up with empty servers. I want lively servers, 👏 no 👏 matter 👏 who 👏 I 👏 face. It's not my fault xbox players are the majority of the community.

I don't need excuses to justify my defeats, and I ain't scared of facing anyone. It's a good thing many of your brethren don't think like you.

And it wiiiiiill, why are you guys, once again, posting daily, begging daily, complaining daily about something that is planned already?

"It needs to happen!" "It needs to happen!?" "Yes it needs to happen!" "It needs to happen!" "Does it need to happen?" "RARE IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN"

You guys didn't learn from last time that tapping your foot while nagging Rare isn't gonna make it happen faster?

Rare treated you like the rest of the community, because in fact, you are no more or no less important than any other customers. Get over yourselves 😂

  • @bloodybil To be honest when I the trailer at E3 for SOT a year before it was launched it said at the beginning it was an XBOX exclusive so I took it as an XBOX platform only and not going to PlayStation. Somewhere in that year span it was called a cross platform and I missed that pivotal moment in history. So when I purchased the game at launch I thought it was an Xbox only game. When gamers on Xbox buy a game they don't always look to see if it is cross platform. Why should we..... the Xbox isn't a computer so we don't affiliate players being from another platform playing with us. We buy it because our friends on Xbox play it and we want to play with our friends on Xbox.

  • @bloodybil

Sticking with what? Interpreting and projecting your thoughts on a whole community? I don't want an easy mode, I want full seas with all kinds of players, as I was sold. I don't get to choose my opponents, I take what I get.

I am a man of simple needs, I see a ship, I attempt to sink it. This whole concept of losing prey/easy targets/bots is nonsense and a complete misrepresentation of most of our arguments. Its not as if I have every ship I come across fill out this short questionnaire before I go sink them. I don't target Xbox players, I target everyone. Enough with the "I'm being bullied complex!"

At this point I don't care if Rare separates the community, if it finally means the whiners will stop crying I will be happy. Never have I ever heard such non-existent bs excuses made over losing in my history of PC gaming. I have been accused of running faster, dealing more damage than within the rules of games, attacking faster, being laggy when the opponent is just as laggy (you don't see me whining), to my favorite having more health. All of this is because the platform I have is PC. Forget that fact that most of these people whining have been playing the game for a week or two, or the fact that they have horse-blinders to the giant ship that has been sailing towards them for the last 5 minutes. Maybe look around once, yeah? Forget the fact that your ship is anchored full sail aimed directaly at the beach. But sure, you only lost due to platform choice.
