Purchase rowboats at the Shipwright

  • It would be awesome if we could buy a rowboat from the shipwright for like 50,000 gold.

  • Why pay when you visit an island and they have one or two with tons of resources :)

  • @burnbacon ease of access

Why would you pay for resource/fruit/etc crates when you can find them on islands as well? Fail argument, if it even was one in the first place...

Nothing against this. Actually, this is a good example of a useful gold sink that saves time of sailing searching for a specific one, which can really drag if you're unlucky. Especially for short aimed sessions.

If diving got introduced for these very same reasons, I see no reason why boats couldn't be purchased as well, for a reasonable price.

And when you sink. It’s 50k down the drain :p
Rowboats are a life saver device. Sink and you’re alive. Gather your loot and row away., but only if you’re able to save it.

It should be a found item. Not purchased

Luckily, nobody forces you to buy it. Same as nobody forces you to buy crates. Lemme worry how I "gamble" with my money. You worry about yours.

  • @burnbacon

We're halfway down the slippery slope already. Squirt some more soap on it and say "wheeeeeeeee"

Not 50k tho. Lol. Like 5k. 1 per session.

    Do it.

    Good idea..
Specially if u can choose the type of rowboat..
    25k basic, 35k harpoon, 50k cannon rowie..
    i would buy em.

And burnt bacon isnt good.. Crispy, Yes, Burnt, Just a No.

  • @syclopse I love this idea, but not THAT expensive. Maybe like... 20k tops. And that's for a good one. If we're willing to pay a few thousand for a storage crate, when in all likelihood we're going to stumble across one at the first island we visit anyway, then the same should be true of rowboats.

  • I see no reason to not have this. Gold means nothing to anyone who has sailed for a while. I would have 10 to 20k for basic. Then once purchased you can pay 5 to 15 k more change ghe type of row boat. So if you find one in the wild you can upgrade just for the upgrade price.

  • Honestly? I used to be against this idea years ago when it first started making the rounds every few weeks on the forum, but the idea has kinda grown on me over the years.

Yes, just like storage crates, you'll likely stumble across one of two by the third island you've visited, but ease of purchase if you know you're gonna need one and don't want to spend your first 20-30 mins scavenging would be a nice option.

Not required, simply available if you wanna waste the gold for it instead of gambling that you'll find one for free sooner rather than later.

As long as it's only the plain, uncolored brightie, poonie or boomie rowies you can purchase, since there are comms for docking the arena-themed colored ones as you find them out in the wild...and so long as they are empty of resources, just like a purchased storage crate.

We can already save them to our ship between sessions now; buying one from the shipwrights is the next logical step.

  • Easy enough to find rowboats. Most islands have them.

If anything, not allowed to buy harpoon or cannon ones and make people find them instead. These are a luxury and can be a game changer off the bat, for example double cannoning on a sloop.
