Situation: I join an open crew because I want to be social and help out another player. I spawn on a chartered (non-captain) ship and my crew mate has already left the game. The ship is sitting near the Sovereigns on Port Medrick.
A different ship with a grade v merchant flag is coming to the Port to sell right in front of me. Rather than instantly start shooting I ask if they want to form an alliance. They ignore me and just start harpooning treasure and selling to the Sovereigns. I pick up a piece of their treasure and go to sell it myself and I can’t because I joined an open crew sailing a chartered ship.
This is just bad design.
I am a captain. I own several ships. But besides that selling to the Sovereigns is just a QoL feature meant to speed up the selling process.
Everybody should be able to sell to Sovereigns.
At first I was like well suggest a tax for non-captains but then I was like why even do that? It’s not necessary. The perks of having your own ship still stand. You get to save your ship’s livery, decorate the interior and progress pirate and ship milestones.
This change will also apply to safer seas as well so players using that mode can also sell treasure to Sovereigns - no captaincy required.
