Meaningful (i.e. non cosmetic) content is added to game regularly, at no cost above the original purchase price or game pass subscription fees. Far from "killing the game", these (not so) micro transactions will help to keep it alive!
Consider all that has been added to game since launch, at no extra cost to any of us:
- Megalodons
- Skeleton Ships
- The Devil's Roar
- The Arena
- All those Tall Tales
- Fishing and the Hunter's Call
- Extra cosmetics, musical instruments, and tools
- Rowboats, Harpoons, and Rowboats with Harpoons!
- Bilge Rat Adventures (Thrones, Mermaid Statues, etc)
- The Fort of the Damned
- Fog
...and, probably, other stuff that I can not think of right now. (EDIT: Like Fire!!!!)
I consider the Pirate Emporium as a way for those of us with some disposable income to support Rare,
Ok now consider the awful state this game launched in with very little to no content. I get tired of hearing the garbage associated with this game.
It's ok to grief others because it's a pirate game is #1, closely followed by your statement.
Rare took $60 from everyone and delivered a lack luster boating sim. Them adding all of that "content" is either them trying to get something actually in this game before someone sued them, or things they held back on and thought they could sell back but see the latter for the reason they didn't try.
They are the ones that made this a "games as a service" game. Why is it up to us through highly over priced cosmetics to keep it going? Wasn't the $60 per player for a nothing burger of a game enough? when is enough enough?
