I know there was a contest to win a code to get this capstan, but seriously, is there any plans for releasing this obsidian capstan in the wilds? Im getting sick of all those dlc bonuses when buying some useless book/plastic/cookies/t-shirt marchandise or watching streamers in the middle of the week.... like we don’t have jobs. Make it simple! Stop releasing cosmetic sets piece by piece, it’s annoying.

@wildbeast-jb i agree. The obsidian/black dog/ebon/midnight set should just be released all at once under one name. And let preorder and original owners get their own stuff. "Early Sailor" kinda title or something.
To me, its incredibly stupid that i can watch a stream to get part of a set that i can never finish because i didnt preorder or watch some stream.
Dont give me part of something if i cannot ever get the rest. Just doesnt make much sense.

Its quite funny how when you go to redeem an "Obsidian" Banjo it is labelled as Black Dog Banjo on the MS store.

I'm just saying, I don't think you'll ever see black dog outfit, midnight blunderbuss, or ferrymans introduced.

@tre-oni None of which match the set it belongs to. While I dont ever want to devalue the old ones, i feel they should release Obsidian versions of these, so anyone can complete the set

And what I'm saying is an "obsidian" outfit would literally be identical to black dog. They've reskinned that for everyone as mercenary.
As far as the ship stuff, silver blade, merc, and whatever the newest one added is called are all reskins of the ship stuff. You can see it best in the cannons.
Merc tools are the same as obsidian.
Obsidian ship stuff you'll probably see come around a few more times, but the black dog outfit, or midnight blunderbuss in an "obsidian" variant you won't, because it wouldn't be a variant, it'd be the same colour when we've already got variants anyone can get.
I think the reason the Obsidian Capstan being given out the way it was is so egregious to many is that it forms part of a set that was a lot more straighforward to obtain up to that point.
6 out of 7 of the pieces of that ship set were given out from simply watching streams... and the final piece was limited to a giveaway that only 50 people could win and in a completely different way to the previous parts.
Unlike other Black Dog/Obsidian/Onyx/Ebon/Midnight items, it's really obvious when you don't have it to complete the look of the ship.
It should never have been limited like it was but I'm hoping we'll see another way to unlock it once the time limited period is up from that giveaway.
@tre-oni Black Dog outfit has grey accents on a black base with bluish gems. Obsidian could be black with green accents and bright green gems
@realstyli the problem with the capstan, and that last stream giveaway....is that it was only a random chance. you could donate the $3 one time and get it, and another person could donate the $3 one hundred times and still not get it.
I get the other physical items being a random chance, but the code should have been guaranteed. probably would have gotten more donations that way.
