AshBeard Error, Please help I need a fix.

  • I am a pc player that played the open beta and launch that bought the 60$ game and loved it until now.

I have been receiving the ashbeard error for about 2 or 3 days now, I have re installed sea of thieves tried the sot.reg thing, I have tried setting off proxy, reinstalling the insider hub, basically everything.
At this point most people say I will have to restart my entire pc and thats something I really don't wanna do.
Its NOT an xbox live connection issue because I downloaded it on xbox was playing it tried it on my pc, it even said it was playing on my console with the same profile and still gave me an ashbeard error.

Please let me know how to fix this in anyway possible, even leave a comment saying if you have the same issue so the devs can find a way to fix it if you can't.

    Thanks

  • @red-noxs Re-tryed it on pc, sorry i type fast and dont review so let me know anything you dont understand :)

  • @red-noxs Same error here, I've tried everything.... -.-'

  • Can you try the steps here and let me know if it fixes it?

  • @icstatic Sorry, It doesn't work. I had to do that thing of notepad, and the problem still persists.

  • Your talking about the SOT.reg file? Ya I tried that but my setting were already like that so no issue here. Support team really needs to fix this I dont care about them setting the servers off for awhile but if an issue like this is so big they need to get on this pronto.

    Thanks for the suggestion btw,

  • One last detail, the lan setting are enabled but i am at home does that affect anything ?

  • So should I reset my computer ?

  • I've been experiencing the same issue, even system restored to an earlier point before the issue but nothing has fixed it. Done every forum solution I could possibly find and now am waiting on a support ticket that's been in for a couple days now in hopes they'll have a fix before thinking of having to completely reset my PC.

  • @Red-Noxs I've managed to get my game working after going through the exact same thing as you. I run windows 10 and found that performing a "Fresh Start" that Windows offers was a much easier solution than a complete wipe. It saves your files still but does rid of third party programs. So do be prepared to redownload things but you won't lose your files or anything else.

  • Okay, so will I lose say for instance steam ? Never done that before so just asking questions.

  • Hey thanks it worked out fine, I just hope this isn't a re occurring issue.

  • Glad it worked! Sorry wasn't around comp to reply the other day. I'm hoping so as well, not as bad as a full wipe but still annoying to redownload everything that it wipes.

  • guys is really the solution to wipe my disk? Sea of thieves devs please give some instructions... am signed in my xbox account and the game does not start. why this suddenly???

  • I realize I'm digging up an old thread, but it might possibly help one or two people...

I too am plagued by this issue. Every patch they release the issue comes back when I try to open the game and log on. Ashbeard error time and time again.

    then I found this page with a new/different "fix" I haven't tried before. https://support.seaofthieves.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115015775927-Sea-of-Thieves-not-Launching

simply turning on automatic time zone resolved the ashbeard error and I connected immediately when opening the game!

    Fix#5

    1. Right click the clock on your start menu
    2. Select Adjust date/time.
    3. Untick then retick Set time zone automatically.
    4. Reboot your PC (I did NOT reboot and this solution still worked for me)
