The Chest of Jesters!
Across the mystical Sea of Thieves lie untold riches and strange magic’s, some that permeate into the very chests of Pirate Legends past.
The Chest of Jesters is an enchanted treasure that is possessed by a malevolent and mischievous crew of specters. Although the bounty of returning such a prize to the Gold Hoarder’s is great, to some, the cruel and incessant trickery of the Chests banshees may be more trouble than its worth!
As a pirate in possession of the wicked chest travels across the open blue seas, an occasional cackle may emerge from the chest, followed by the ignition of its pink glowing eyes. This is a sure sign that somewhere aboard your vessel, mischief has begun to brew.
A buccaneer should be quick to search the ship and see what ghostly antics have spawned and are at work, as the chest produces ghostly pink doppelgangers of the players pirates themselves with the intent to mess with the ships workings.
Some of the twisted tricks the ghosts can pull to hinder the voyage back to port are as follows:
• Fire in the hole, the cannons blast! The spirits shoot them as they pass!
• Unlit lanterns stay out of sight, but the specters spark them twice as bright!
• Soon enough, your ship may slow; the ghosts pull sails away from flow!
• When chased you pray for all but stops; a treacherous specter may cause anchor drops!
• When time it comes for ship to flee; a ghostly hold on anchor you’ll see!
• A drunken revelry below deck to find; the puking poltergeists spew sick to blind!
• To make it worse, these guests so rude; you may just find them eating your food!
• To make a mock of journeys prize; the ghosts may float before your eyes!
But once the chest begins playing its deceitful games, how do we stop it from hindering our voyage you ask?
Well pirates say an old legend holds the key to ending this malicious boxes mischief:
“Should specters spawn, and you wish they fade, banish by bullet, by blast, or blade!”
With a sure strike of your sword or shot from your weapon, the aberrations will cease to be and vanish with a cackle.
Be warned, however, for as long as the accursed chest remains in your care, the specters of Jesters will also be there!
Much like the Chest of Sorrows blubbering at will, the events that can spawn from the chest will appear at random intervals. Crews must work together to find the spectral pranksters and stop them from wreaking havoc on the ship and its supplies.
This is my concept for the Chest of Jester, a new special Treasure Chest for Sea of Thieves!
