Volcano Islands! Would you like to see them?

    • A Volcano Islands errupting during set times of the day with lava flowing, ash, posioness gas's and fireballs that could hit your ship whenit errupts! They would be Bigger Islands with more mystery like abandoned Ancient buildings with ancient treasure! They would be puzzles based islands with Traps!!
and Because i like this gamers idea so much i'm adding it into the concept @solidsnakemig said - Instead of the Hawaii route you could go all Krakatoa instead.

You have your rumbling, I would tie it to RNG with some modifications instead of a schedule personally, which would indicate a pending eruption. The eruption would last for several days, but instead of lava flows building up on the edges of the island, like Hawaii, explosions destroy parts of the island which exposes new secret areas if you are daring to brave the volcanic bombs, explosions, and of course the toxic clouds of volcanic ash and gas.

And instead of the eruption just stopping, there is a final cataclysmic explosion that can be heard across the entire map that destroys almost the entire island(red skys can be seen in the distance of where it is). If you wanted you could have the eruption plume visible from long distances like the skull clouds. Time is up to get your treasures and secrets.

Then the island slowly rebuilds itself and the cycle repeats itself. More complex than a lava flow that cools and then erodes away, but definitely more spectacular.

  • yes. that would be cool. even just the island itself. doesnt have to have a bunch of mechanics.

  • Skeletons on here would maybe be on fire or made of lava?

  • @raging-spork you really think so? thanks dude! what would you add to it or take away?

  • @crackerjackx13 yea man. a different biom would be cool. we have the islands and the coral reef bioms atm. im pretty sure they said in one of the future updates they will have new bioms.

  • @raging-spork i really appreciate it.

  • @crackerjackx13 yes

  • @floyd-cnkr thank you floyd!

  • @crackerjackx13 i like this idea, and we could use the time cycle in game with the eruptions, maybe for 3 days before it rumbles and the area is a bit quaky, the actual eruption could last a day with the consequent lava flow gathering around the base making this area now inaccessible, for 2/3 days after the lava cools and hardens opening up a new island area, then for the next 15/20 days the new island slowly breaks down into the sea with the last remaining bits being shaken off by the quake of the new cycle. Repeat. The glow could be seen from anywhere in the game, the eruption should be heard from anywhere. Add some treasures, lava skeletons, a burnt hull unlock with singed sails, a magma beast inside the volcano.

    A resounding yes!

  • Minus the puzzles and the gas I think this is a neat idea.

  • I think it is a good idea too, maybe you could have an area underneath? It could have treasure in it, but only be accessible shortly shortly before eruption to make things difficult. If you are too slow, things end in fiery death!

  • I mentioned volcanic islands in passing a while ago in a post. You guys really fleshed it out. This would be a great addition to the PvE environment.

  • Sounds like a good addition to me... Perhaps they could even appear as ingame events and dissapear after.

  • Yes I would. :)

  • @solidsnakemig i really like your idea its amazing? Do you have more?

  • @jaymeister03 very cool i like this idea!

thank you dude!!!! everyone here has such brillant ideas!!

  • @crackerjackx13 Thanks, I think volcanic islands is a great way to make the game feel more dynamic and add a different kind of challenge.

  • @jaymeister03 thank you dude!

  • @crackerjackx13 thankyou, i have so many ideas bouncing around but they seem to manifest better with a prompt. My favourite is a new game mode: be the bounty, basically bounties will now be player controlled, the different types used as a progression, with ‘skeleton legend’ unlocking the ability to be a fort captain. It didn’t get any traction though unfortunately.

  • @solidsnakemig sorry to hear this, but there is hope, i have seen plently of others talking about your idea and sharing it around the forums i'm sure over time if it gets enough upvotes at one point or another it will gain alot of traction! What do you think of the Volcano Island Idea though?

I still cant get over how brilliant this idea is, mind if i add it to the post with your name mentioned in it?

  • @crackerjackx13 i love it and somewhere out there is an unused cgi SoT trailer and guess what, it includes a volcano. And word of mouth is always good, i also just saw your ‘turtle island’ idea, great work, keep it up!

  • @solidsnakemig thanks i really appreciate it! Where is this video you speak of though, it sounds amazing!

  • @crackerjackx13 Love this idea.. I never thought of volcanos.. but that would fit well into the game! I mean there are many ways it could work.... An obstacle for PvE players, like cannons being fired by skeletons but instead flaming rocks falling from the sky towards your ship!

Perhaps a new PvPvE area like skull forts - you have a limited time to get in and grab the treasure before the volcano erupts then it's all about the escape!

Personally I like the idea of it being a new environmental threat..... I also do not like the idea of it having 'set times', let it be spontaneous :D Let 'mother nature' decide when it should explode! Perhaps players get a time warning in the form of a loud rumbling and the ground shaking 10 minutes before it erupts or something... and then players on the server can hear it explore from all over the sea..... it would be like the kraken... 'look that ship is being attacked by the kraken! spyglass' but it would be 'look that island is erupting!' That sea around the island becomes treachorous to ships due to the lava pouring into the water, rocks fall down, the island is covered in smoke and ashe - damaging players...

Love the temple idea on the drawing too! Love this so much

  • Yeah and doing the lava would be very similar to doing the blood red water, except maybe your ship is damaged faster.

  • This is a fantastic idea and I really hope gets added as it has so much potential.

  • @crackerjackx13 Go for it. I don't mind at all

  • sounds awesome!

  • Obviously.
    I
    mean,
    come
    on.
    :-)

  • I think that a few volcano islands are an awesome idea. Maybe one per region? They could replace the random rocks that are jutting out of the ocean with them. I would certainly enjoy the danger mechanic associated with them and could give a new risky way of dodging a pursuing ship like the storm is. The guy that said fire skeletons (spot on dude) do douse them in water to be able to hit them with your sword. You take damage of you melee them otherwise due to their "heat".

  • I think volcanoes would be a nice replacement for some of the giant rock structures that act as just cover/obstacles out at sea.

I also think Jungle/Volcano-Forts could be a good addition. They can function the same way as regular forts but the aesthetics could be different (ruins instead of the traditional wooded/pirate looking structures, more trees etc). Plus the Volcano can act as an additional addition of challenge with lava flows cutting the battle area up into sections and rocks hailing down and around the fort like cannon-fire.

  • @drakebg757 I love this idea to, jungle forts! hell yea
