I can't do this anymore.... fix your game!

  • So I had a free day today and thought let's grind some OoS and GH. So I picked up my crates caught some chickens and snakes, while at the same time digging for treasure at the islands. All went smooth and I had collected 20ish of both golden and black chickens/snakes, a handful of skulls and over a dozen chests. This took me about an hour and a half. On my way to an outpost and.... disconnected(AllmondBeard).

Well ok that sucks, lets try again. So I restarted, did everything again, but this time I had maybe double of everything (wanted to make up for the first error). Got into a fight with a galleon, outwitted the crew, blew up their ship with a barrel and lowered their anchor, easy peasy. Well let's pick up their stuff and head to an outpost... disconnected (Longbeard).

So tell me how this is fixed, as you guys told? I spent around 6 hours today on pure grinding and only got 1 level out of it because of gamebreaking bugs and errors. Until this is fixed I will stop playing it, since this was a huge waste of precious time. Please Rare fix your game or at the very least give us reputation for doing things like digging up treasure, killing skeletons and catching those scurvy chickens! Because I do enjoy it a lot... but this is just unbearable.

  • @smokiermonkey78 I've heard this over and over in the forums. Simple fix is don't wait so long to cash in your loot. My crew and I have decided on a minimum of 5 chest to head to a outpost and only go over 5 if an outpost is way out of the way. Only time I've ever had 20 chest on board was for the achievement.

  • @watchmefly420 I understand that it is smart to bring your loot to an outpost as soon as possible, but for reasons like being robbed by others not because the game crashes every hour.

  • I've played since beta, only ever been DC'd one or two times.. and they were caused by issues on my end..

  • While I agree with @WATCHMEFLY420 in logic I do admit the game could be more stable and agree with your underlying request...

...While it is unfortunate and I hope they get it stabilized all around the above logic holds even truer knowing the game's current state on top of player hostilities.

  • The crashes are brutal ... but we all know about them.

Give it some time - like at least until the next patch to see if it makes a difference. It’s frustrating... but the only way around it right now is to cash in less loot than is optimal.

  • The almonbeard is a lie, does it still happend? I'll never got anything after that first day after the patch, after that I thought it was fixed like last time. If for example 10 people play the game and 1 gets and error, we rather belive that one person that got the error have something "wrong" with his computer rather then that the game itself does the problem. To me most of game "fixes" in almost all games that have some sort of problem the last 20 years on computers could be fixed with changing stuff or that someone was not using their computer the "right way".

Computers are fantastic but they only tell or do what their code tells them to, it's down to the operator of said computer to have all settings and all the other stuff down right.

Now im not saying that this is the problem and that to fix it it's on your end, but from what I found with computer support in my days of working with it, that 99% of the time it's not the softwares "fault" and more the fault of another software or setting in thoes softwares, Like windows or drivers etc for routers, the list can be endless. It can also be a internet service provider thing when it comes to almondbeard aswell. All we know for sure is that no one usually gets disconnected normaly IF the servers works correctly and IF maybe 2% of the players gets in here and there randomly it could be just other stuff rathen then the game itself.

  • @cpt-toothpick
I haven't had an almondbeard in awhile myself but I honestly still get the occasional game freeze/graphics driver crash so to each their own. I tried the suggested fixes which seem to help but has yet to stop it fully. I fully accept that I know nothing about computers so it very well could be on my end though to be fair the freezes get further and further apart the more they work on the game. At this point I get maybe one freeze but then once I relog it won't do it again until the next day I go to play. It's surprisingly worse when I play with my one friend. We both take turns freezing out 1-3 times a session each.

Who knows. Technology is hard for peons like me.

  • @cpt-toothpick This doesn't make sense, why would I lie about a well known error? You are very quick to judge people, stating I probably have no knowledge about my own rig and it HAS to be on my end. You can cover behind that last section of your post but even there you blame the hardware and the user rather then admit there might be a problem that has to be fixed for everyone to enjoy the game. I just tried to make a post to let others and Rare know that it hasn't been fixed for me and maybe others. All you did was judge and talk about info I don't care about, not even giving a tip on how to improve it etc. Also I noticed the "Insiders" on this Forum are a bit overdefensive instead of being helpful... just saying

  • @john-hatter It could be the game, I don't have access to the game code myself. But it's just unlikly if it happends to so few that it's on their end. It could be some Old settings file that messing up, or something they changed that works on most routers but on thoes very few that still using MSU or something on their router it destroys their packages they send sometimes and in turn gives up and almondbeards you, or something like that. Its so many things that has to go right. And thats one of the single things I can personaly think about why consoles are good for games, in that less s**t can go wrong, as most off our computers are so diffrent from each other in software terms.

  • Had both happen. Not as terrible as before but its still there and is a pain. facepalms

  • I've only ever almondbearded once and had the game crash on me one other time due to a GPB killing me so hard my game crashed. I think a lot of the current almondbeard errors after the latest fix to it is client side.

  • @wiredsolstice That shockingly is a very logical thought. I never actually considered that could be whats causing the issue.

  • Allmondbeard has been bad since last patch for me.

I find it pretty irksome that the text for the error:
Your connection to Xbox Live and/or the Sea of Thieves services has been disrupted or lost. Please check your console's network status via the Settings > Network menu.

makes it sound like it's a problem with your connection, but when they happen it's the entire crew disconnecting at the same time, which seems like pretty unlikely that four people had a connection issue in four geographically distinct locations all at the exact same time. Seems more like a server issue on Rare's end.

If that's the case fix or compensate players for losses.

Stop bringing facts & logic into this!

If it doesn't happen to @Ve111a , @PersonalC0ffee or @Cpt-Toothpick, then it just simply isn't possible & all the fault lies with you or your system! I would think you guys would have caught on by now. Jeez.

  • @smokiermonkey78 never had one of those. I play every single day and every single time I able to...
Never had a disconnect issue ... Maybe because I don't carry that much with me...
Maybe the server crash because you're playing solo and carry a lot with you. That a lot of information for the server, Since this is shared world.
    I don't know...

  • @slim-shanty

You’re about to bring Chaos down on this thread ;)

  • Since game release, ive only got disconected once... dont even know what it was called :P
I do Solo sloop alot and do deliver goods regurarly, so no major treasure onboard.
Seem like many of these threads have people with hours of grinded loot onboard..
Maby try deliver more often and see if the disconects go away? If so, then the game has issues with the amounts of "items" stored on a single ship, Witch is what i belive is the main issue.
Each item you put on a ship will increase the need of computercalculation (or whats its called) and stress your pc/consoll and/or server and make it more likely to crash sooner or later.. Or am i totaly wrong on this?

  • I used to be one if the "lucky ones" until recently. Everyday I get glitches, a couple of disconnects nearly everyday since the last patch.

  • @smokiermonkey78
    AllmondBeard:
Your connection to Xbox Live and/or the Sea of Thieves services has been disrupted or lost.

This may be well on your side if you experience this frequently, yes there were issues with it last week. But those have been fixed.

Also seeing how you disconnect with a Longbeard, I think the issue is with your hardware or connection. Because that one doesn't even exist.

Are you playing over WiFi or LAN?

  • The disconnection errors "Almondbeard" and "Longbeard" wouldn't be such an issue if they could figure out how to get you back in the game where you left off. That is what PUBG does, and disconnects become more of an annoyance rather than a game ending fit of rage for people.

Sorry but dont say things like this trying to infuriate peoples please ...

THE PLAIN REALITY IS that since the last patch 1.0.7 " Almondbeard " is now a prevalent game error that touch everybody , entire servers crash at once ... with all its population kick out , and its not peoples faults its the patch and work done on the servers who as mess up something ...

  • @stew360

I'm just telling the truth mate..

I literally only ever DC'ed when i have connection issues with my own router..

Maybe its because i am based in the UK?

The issues that came with patch 1.0.7. have been fixed as well, they were on it and fixed within 2 days.

Keep in mind what AllmondBeard actually means. It isn't always the server that is failing, especially when the situation is where player A experiences it frequently and Player B has seen it once since launch.

Yes there were issues after patch 1.0.7. but these have been fixed. If you get a lot of AllmondBeards, go check your internet settings etc.

  • I don't think I've ever had a disconnect in SoT. Maybe it is a locale server issue (I'm in Ireland) or a time of day thing?

I've occasionally had issues joining people, but VERY rarely, and I've had some Xbox Live party issues but not been kicked from the game, that I remember.

It could be an Xbox Live issue, I recommend doing an network test.

  • Fix: Play with other players for connectivity redundancy.

  • I watch these guys stock up on like 80 chests and just think a simple glitch and all is lost. I know I got the skull fort key and a gally showed up so I took off with it and the server dropped.

  • I feel your pain, my last 2 sessions ended badly for me. I put in a good hour and a half session both times. The first time I had about 6 chests on board and figured I would swing by an outpost cause it was directly on my way to my next stop. After parking my ship I noticed the whole outpost looked a lot darker than normal. Half of the torches were out and I noticed none of the NPCs were present. I turned around to go back to my ship and the game froze.
The second time I was sailing to my next island and just as I get close to it I spontaneously died with a sound as if someone bashed me in the back of the head. I was watching the seas carefully and theres no way anyone else ended up on my ship. So I spawn on the flying Dutchman, and about 5 seconds later the game froze... no error messages or anything both times. But im starting to lose patience with this game when I cant even play it, especially after putting in a lot of work.

  • @watchmefly420 No, simple fix is make characters persistent over a small period of time so people can reconnect like every other game since 1999.

  • Yep, you wait too long,...this is what you get when you go to cash in....lost everything I was carrying..

  • @smokiermonkey78 Just curious. Are you connected directly to your isp router through an Ethernet cat 5 cable, no switches or in wall wiring in between? I get the almond beard message alot when I am trying to use wifi.
