Hello fellow pirates. Idea on a new merchant.
First, the Bounty system. Not sure why this hasn't been added to the game yet. Seems so perfect for SoT. It's a pretty basic system. Kill or sink players/ships, your bounty goes up. I would say it goes up levels, just to make it straightforward. Your bounty would reset upon someone claiming it.
Example:
Level 1 = 500 gold
Level 2 = 1000 gold
Etc...
This is important because it will tie into...
PvP Merchant
Something similar to the Merchant Alliance. You would be given a contract. This contract would be based on your Bounty level. With each level, they get harder, but you get more reward per kill.
Example:
Level 1 Bounty = Kill 2 players and sink 1 ship. (player kill value = 200 gold, sunk ship value = 500 gold)
Level 2 Bounty = Kill 4 players and sink 2 ships. (player kill value = 500 gold, sunk ship value = 1000 gold)
Etc...
The way this works, whenever you vote for PvP Merchant voyage, players will then drop something upon death. A necklace or something. Sunk ships will drop wood or part of the wheel. This will need to be picked up and turned back into the merchant for your reward. Of course other players can steal these, just like any other loot.
Now back to the Bounty system. A player with a bounty on their head will drop a Bounty upon death. (Any death) But, that player would have the ability to go back to where they died and recover their Bounty. If a bounty is recovered by another player (non friendly) it would show them how much the bounty was worth whenever they looked at it.
Having the Bounty system combo'd with the PvP Merchant would help with people just doing nothing but that merchant. Eventually, your bounty will be so high that the PvP Merchant voyages would be insanely difficult that most people would not continue them. Only the best pirates would be able to get super high PvP Merchant Voyages completed.
