Are some Pirate Legends entitled?

  • I remember sinking my first Pirate Legend, and it placed a sour taste in my mouth for that group.

Me and my crew were docked at Golden Sands, and we see a Pirate Legend literally come for the same dock. Methinks that they have a good majority of their Athena's Quest done, or all done to be turned in... so, what do we do? We intervene and broadside them. They got SO MAD at us... but, what do you expect when you're rolling up on a docked ship?

They called us names and swore out their tongues as we sank them and stole all their loot for ourselves... and these are Pirate Legends, boys and girls. What a folly to drive yourself into the same dock as us, and expect VIP treatment or to demolish us because you can wear a purple costume. All in all, it was hilarious. It also made me think though, does this status of "legend" really place a guise on some players? That they feel they're invincible? Other Pirate Legend encounters weren't as folly as this crew, but even they got mad as well. I feel once you place on those legend sails and make yourself stick out like a sore thumb, you're technically a larger target and enabled "Hard Mode".

Now this doesn't go for all Pirate Legends, but you can't ignore the fact a whole lot of them got their through the Merchant cheese, (before the fix w/o penalty), and AFK leeching, the "Prodigy streamer" debacle. It's just the last handful of legends we've sank think it's the end of the world.

@weepaperboats Did they have a Athena chest? If they didn't how can you be sure they were actually pirate legend?

You can't tell anymore. Anyone who knows someone that is a pirate legend can pretty much get the skins.

They had the chapter before the Athena chest chapter. The loot was basically all the qualifications to be the first chapter. All animals, all skulls, all chests, all at once. Someone on that ship was a legend; and it happened a few times.

  • Are all these "Are Legend..?" Threads getting old?

Find out on the next thread.

I like that you got what I was going for. Wasn't sure if it would come through on text the way I wanted.

  • Anecdotally I can add that my most recent PL voyage found another PL ship (reflected by figurehead and Athena's voyage on the table) whose quest locations must have been tied in closely to our own.

They seemed to proceed with their efforts one island away from us all night.

Noted by the fact that after each given encounter they'd remain on said island for roughly the length of time one might expect a stage of the quest to take.

When we first met.. my lord.. they did just as you comment.. they charged in to fight straight-away. In that first encounter they had no idea were wer eon a PL quest as well, we hadn't the figurehead nor any other indicators up. They simply saw a Galleon at "their island" and attacked.

We sank in that first engagment, which was upsetting since we had much of the early loot aboard and among us were those not at 50 (myself included)

We ended up encountering them twice more after that... sank them each time... they were doing a speed run it seemed.. they never had loot aboard.

In this anecdote I can't say they were specifically hostile. But I do find it annoying that the first remark from many sailors is "Fight 'em, forget 'em" I can't remark that it is a "legend specific" issue. Just an recent increase in flavor in the game....

I think alot of that has to do with impatience for the arrival of Hungering Deep, and that there isn't much time to grind objectives out before it arrives now so most are simply "done for now" and fighting, or assume the worst.

    Who knows.

  • Remember, being a Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves just means you had a LOT of time, or it's been several months of casual playing for an average player.

It doesn't demand any special skill, talent, or demeanor to become a pirate legend.
    Only time and tenacity.

And a LOT of scummy, child-like individuals have time and tenacity. It's just a fact of multiplayer ranking/leveling.

But I will say that all of the legends I've crewed with (Like 3) Were actually really skilled and enjoyable players to sail with. However, the two Legends I've went up against were both fairly sportsmanlike, even when I challenged the first one to a sword duel for our loot and won. He was very respectful and even friendlisted me for my sword skills because he said he'd definately want me on his boat.

So in my experience at least, I'd say the legend you've confronted isn't representive of the majority at all.

Also like others have said, it could have also been due to someone on their crew. Doesn't necessarily mean it was them.

  • lol, just look at some of the forum posts where pirate legends say that "dont ask me to put athena voyage for you, i earned it myself and so should you" etcetc

then you see how entitled some of them are, lol

  • The real question. Who cares? 😁

  • @weepaperboats no they are sour that they got sunk( im a legend) more then likely they were doing athenas and u sunk their crates but regardless they forgot they sunk many people and karma is a B****

  • @weepaperboats

I am a legend, and I don’t wear the purple. I didn’t buy the sails or hull, but I did buy the glowing pony. (It was all I could afford).

I sail a solo sloop with the glowing pony because I want the challenge. I want to be chased and attacked.

I have lost more treasure to my wife demanding I shut off the game than I have to anyone else though.

I don’t leech and I only talk smack on players that are asking for it.

We sunk a legendary PvP crew a week Ago after they attacked us, and one of the players called me an “ignorant bleep”. Their salty ness made the victory more delicious!
