Ship Despawn...Bug?

  • I haven't seen anyone mention this topic yet so give me a heads up if I'm behind.

Has anyone encountered a situation where their ship just disappears even if you are on the ship?

It has happened to me and my crew twice in the last 2 nights while doing skull forts. Once at Keel Haul and another time at Crow's Nest. Both times the ship was parked.

Keel Haul we were parked between the towers on a galleon and Crow's we parked in the small cove ("the crow's mouth") on a sloop.

My buddy was in the crow's nest the first time it happened and thought he fell off until he spun around in the water and noticed the ship was just gone with our gunpowder barrels floating next to him.

Here is a clip I got of it happening that first time. Was quite the W*F moment:

  • Cant tell that it despawned. Could have had a unnoticed hole and sunk. I've never had my ship disapeer on me how you describe

  • @the-all-c-n-i In the video I literally go around the tower and its gone within seconds.

Plus, like I said, it's happened twice within 2 days.

  • @el-dunco Nice effect, it almost feel like it was real.

  • @el-dunco May be it's real, but I don't know... why can't we hear what your friend is saying, we can see on his head he is talking ?

  • @zyrkal said in Ship Despawn...Bug?:

    Was wondering that too...

I do have crew chat set to come through my headphones so not sure if xbox dvr picks that up. I'll ask them if they recorded it too. The one guy sometimes streams.

  • I had a galleon disappear a few days ago. We managed to get it stuck out of the water (had to jump to catch the ladder to get back on) and it despawned while we were trying to get it loose. Maybe your ships were in a similar situation where it was stuck on shore for too long.

I believe they must have patched this in at some point. I remember at the start players would get their sloops stuck on the rocks at forts on purpose so they were impossible to sink.

  • @rk1-turbulence That is what I was thinking. Both those positions are notorious for wedging yourself into. I have noticed ships get pushed back a considerable distance when trying to "drydock" with an anchor break lately.

Maybe if the ship gets in one of those locations and the game can't push you back out it assumes you are stuck and despawns similar to when your pirate gets caught up sometimes.

  • It's the stuck despawn thing. Happens to me fair often. I like wedging my boat places you cant get out of.

  • @the-all-c-n-i we had that once too on an outpost...my thought was: maybe the water wasn't so deep and the game thought the ship is on land and stuck there, cause when that happens it just disappears and spawns somewhere else...

  • @el-dunco the upper post was for you...😅
