Briefly mentioned this on separate thread, but wanted it to have it's own.
Scenario: You find talk to an NPC pirate in a tavern or marooned on an island. You're told of a secret cache of loot, but the directions are somewhat vague. Nothing's written down, and you don't know who else this scallywag has told. If you're the first there, you get a sizable (Random) haul in an assortment of goods. Just make sure you're not being followed!
Behind the Code: As soon as the first pirate talks to the NPC, it becomes a non-voyage - voyage. The loot doesn't actually appear on the island until a seeker gets the clue, much like skellies in an OoS voyage, or chests in a GH. When the cache is collected, the NPC stops talking/notes go away.
What makes this fun is the fact that like a Skull Fort or a shipwreck, it's available to multiple crews, if they find the NPC in time. You could get there and find that it's already been looted. You could get away with the goods clean (most likely), or you could get there right as another crew is claiming the cache!
- Big Caches might be talked about by multiple NPCs on different outposts.
- Maybe you have to buy the bloke a grog or two before he starts talking?
- Maybe it's just a somewhat hidden note pinned to the tavern wall?
- Maybe it's a temporarily different dialogue prompt on a guild NPC?
- Unlike standard voyages, the cache could be anywhere: the watchtower of an inactive fort, in an underwater cave, even hidden on an outpost.
- the cache might actually be a special cosmetic instead of standard loot?
