  • @nightraven12345 you must be new here...that's a feature!!!
No, just kidding...Rare is aware of this a while now, don't know when they fix this

  • @nightraven12345 Yep, it's a known bug. You actually don't look like that though. It's player by player. If there were four of you on a crew, one person could see you like a skeleton while the other two don't.

  • @nightraven12345
    Eat more bananas. STAT!!!

@Schwammlgott is correct, in saying that it's a new feature allowing the wind to sail through you for increased sailing speed also making you less resistant in water. Not to mention being a harder target to shoot.

Congratulations, you are now an elite pirate.
You can use this clever disguise to infiltrate the enemy (a.k.a. skeletons) but only if you offer them grog from your tankard, dance among them and / or play "Thunderstruck" on your hurdy gurdy.... or try all three. Sometimes it doesn't work at first.

After trying those suggestions come see me about buying your very own bridge in the city of your choice. :o)

  • @ionei-falcon They should just make it a outfit at this point.

  • Here's a question:

Why are the player skeletons, which as far as we know are just a bug, so detailed?

I mean that's a more or less anatomically correct skeleton, just look at the number of individually modelled bones in the foot.

Why go to that much effort for something we were never supposed to actually see? If indeed it is an actual bug.

  • @boxcar-squidy

sometimes placeholder are unusually detailed in game development. like a default fallback model kinda, at least thats what i would suspect. imagine there would be no fallback model, he would be invisible or a big box of checkered missing texture. i guess its a variant of the normal skeleton we encounter everywhere.
    but thats just me guessing...

  • @coyote4711 Ok, so this is a thing that happens often in game dev?

I would have suspected the invisible or wierd box mesh thing to be the result of an actual bug. I thought the skeleton thing seemed a bit convenient. Maybe it's convenient because they do things that way expecting bugs.

  • @coyote4711
    You may be onto something.
When we spawn it starts off as the skeleton ("spline" used for 3D animation), then the naked version of our character in underwear, before the final detailed stage.

I assume people with faster systems than my potato PC (including Xbox users) don't usually see this spawning transformation.

I am also the one member of our crew who often sees at least one crew member (sometimes two) as a skeleton where as the others rarely see it in our crew at all... unless it's me.

It may come down to excessive lag and or low frame rate at time of the crew mate's spawn or return to the ship.

  • @admiral-rrrsole that makes sense.

Well there you have it, every day is in fact a school day.

  • You were already dead

    j/k
It is a very fun bug, you can emote too. Dancing skeleton for the win

I always assumed this - that this was the base model for the skeletons - the skull is practically identical for a start.

I see this regularly on my xbox.
I have also seen people loading in, which can be quite funny. I don't know if it's a bug or intended, but they perform a Neo-style matrix jump-kick stance as they load in below deck!

  • It's a bug. Be mindful if you pvp. You glow & easily be spotted

  • @boxcar-squidy Yep, this close to halloween? I agree with you here mate, maybe they are preparing for the halloween event with this "bug". Lol.

  • @pereraaa if this thread has taught me anything it's that inside every pirate is a luminous green skeleton that just wants to dance.

  • @nightraven12345 it's the skeleton cruse

  • This particular bug was introduced with Cursed Sails. Well that's when I first noticed it, day one of CS.

I guess the skele ships were the breaking point for many systems and it will only get worse with everything they add into the same ol' map that has already exceeded it's limits.
