IPG changes (Minor/QOL changes, won't change IPG concept.)

  • I was thinking maybe we could get some Quality of Life updates to the IPG like zooming, so we can see the character's face more clearly, choosing to toggle our current pirate's clothing/cosmetics so we can see what they'd look like with it, things of that sort that help the players choose a pirate easier by showing them what they'd actually look like in game. I've had cases where I picked a pirate from IPG and when I went in game they didn't look like I had imagined them with my outfits on and I'd like for players to be able to see it in advance so it doesn't happen to them too.

Another idea that I think would make IPG better is getting the option to choose male, female and general things like that. The randomness doesn't have to completely go, but at least let me choose if the characters I'm being shown are male or female, old or young and small things like that. Something that won't ruin the fun of spinning pirates and seeing some good looking and some funny looking ones in the process.

I think this update would make creating your pirate a much better experience, because now it's just painful infinite regeneration of pirates till you get the one you're looking for and most of the time when you're looking for a certain gender half, if not most, of the character generated are the opposite gender.

  • I quite never understood how players turn a simple thing into a painful experience. Not even should be counted as an experience. Spin, spin, fav, fav and choose.

The zoom part confuses me. Majority players are on monitors. “Big ones” and they have hard time seeing details?

But besides that. M/F choice is only thing I like
With the added choice of. When your Fav a pirate look the game recognizes the selection and the next roll of pirates will use what you favorited.

  • Big monitors don't necessarily mean better visibility. I have a 27 inch monitor and I still have to lean in very close to make out what kind of eyebrows and eyes/eyecolor my pirate has in IPG. Also, just because the majority of players have it, doesn't mean that everyone does, it would be a cool addition to the IPG so we can take closer looks at our pirates and get a second chance to make sure we like their faces before picking them. Trust me, faces in game and in IPG look different, not all, but a lot of them.

How do you not understand how IPG is painful? Imagine this: You're a new player, looking to start the game but you get sent into an Infinite Character Generator that doesn't let you pick ANYTHING as to what your character will be like, you keep spinning and spinning, getting mostly old, fat, or ugly characters (not that anything's wrong with that but I doubt most of the player base wants to play as a 102 year old grandma with 4 teeth missing and battle scars like she fought the Kraken one on one). You spend hours upon hours, looking for a pirate that you like, after so long your standards start lowering for your character, you care less and less about things because you're so worn out from spinning for so long that you just want to play the game at this point.

Take this second scenario, You're a new player starting with your friend(s), your friends successfully persuade you to pick the ugliest atrocity of humanity as your character just for the fun of it, you regret it and wish to find a better pirate. You buy a potion but after going back to the IPG screen and you see the spawns of hell that spawn on your screen and you realize, you are about to go through the worst time of your life. You start rerolling and after hours you don't get any good looking pirate and you leave the game for today. You hop on tomorrow, only to be met by the "Would you like to use your potion" screen, you think to yourself "Maybe today is a lucky day." - You spent another 3 hours to find a decent looking pirate, you pick it, you go to the Sea of Thieves discord and go to the fashion channel, you see some amazing looking characters and are very jealous, you buy another potion, you spend most of your playtime just rerolling characters to find one that somewhat resembles the ones from the fashion chat. (This one's my personal experience)
