Red mermaid gem

  • Hello,

I have bashed, bombed, and even died multiple times getting the red mermaid gem. this is way to hard for a solo player, and it makes no freaking sense.
    Fix this.

  • 4 or 5 kegs and a couple of sword swings will kill it while solo slooping. If it's deep in the water leave it and move on

  • @agaron4360 Red mermaids were designed for crews of 3-4 people, you aren't meant to be able to get it solo.

  • just leave it

the time and resources are better spent elsewhere when solo.

You can find ruby gems in the water and on the beach on a regular basis

if you're doing it for commendations just line up the sloop and cannon it but I'd recommend multiplayer for red mermaid hunting

You can also invite me and I'll join in if I'm available and help you sword it (we only need 2 people with swords and food) and I'll leave afterwards so you don't have to open your crew for help

  • @agaron4360

Game was never intended for solo play nor was it designed around it. The developers only ADDED solo play after a bunch of players complained about not wanting to play with other pirates.

It was added as a courtesy, was not added as part of the design. The game is intended to play with other players. Game used to be Galleons only. Man, what I wouldn't give to have a Galleon only event for like a week in the game. Galleon's only. OOOOH that would be awesome.

So it makes perfect sense that you can't kill red gems solo since it takes more than 1 person to do it, so next time just get someone to play with.

  • @agaron4360 as @Captain-Coel said...those aren't meant to be done solo, before the sword buff they even were almost impossible for 2 people...

But if you manage to find one, that's near the surface or over water, use about 5 gunpowder barrels and a few sword hits and it's done...
Under water...impossible for solo players, and I mean impossible

  • Take a storage crate with 30 blunder bombs with you, choose your preferred distance and start hurling them at it. It's doable solo, but sods law will likely happen here and a gunpowder skeleton will spawn and ruin your plans..

  • @schwammlgott Just for the info, although I find this a waste of time, you can swim the kegs down by the mermaid and release them so they float above it. It takes them 15 minutes but they will sink. You can then shoot them and kill the mermaid. This has to be near the shore in still water though. So technically it's a huge waste of time but can be done. I only done it once to see if you could. Not recommended and a large consumption of time. You can find one washed on a beach just as quickly or quicker.

EDIT: Now that I think about it for a few minutes, I tried this back before gems washed up on beaches. It was long ago so they could have changed the water mechanics where the kegs would drift away even in calm water. The sink time of the kegs may also be different now. Take that in consideration if anyone wants to give it a shot.

  • @venomous-sloth7 ok...not impossible, but this tactic is...worthless

  • @schwammlgott Agree 100%. More of a if your bored and got nothing better to do. Then I still have a hard time justifying doing it. Although at one point I did it. Sooooo.....yeah 😂😂😂

  • 5 kraken/megalodon/pineapples and you should be able to pull it off.

Personally I think a drunk on grog pirate that sits around on the beach planting a bunch of kegs and strategically sets them off as they sink down to the target deserves a "that's the best pirate I've ever seen video"

It's so bad that it's epic

  • @wolfmanbush Except gunpowder barrels don't sink; they float.

I suppose you could wait the 5 or so minutes for them to start despawning, but in the time it would take you to wait for that to happen, you would have probably made up the 2k in gold elsewhere.
