Missing or Corrupted file problem always and... always...

  • Hi all,

I have a major problem with SoT that i never had before and it ruined my sessions solo and with friends. It's unbelivable...
    My Rig :

    • Win 10 pro + fresh reinstall, formatr etc of my computer (Win 10 v 10.0.19045)
    • I7 4820k
    • 32 Go Ram
    • GTX 1080 with Nvidia dribvers v 566.14
    • SSD Samsung 990 EVO 1TB
    • playing on Steam

When the game runs, it runs smoothly, no particular pb.

What i have done so far :

    • Went to the troobleshooting section and done EVERYTHING said..
    • Turned off RAM overclocking
    • Install, reinstall the game
    • Verifying always the files integrety after get rid of the missing/corrupted file in the athena/packs folder

So i don't know what to do... it runs well on my laptop ACER predator (2018) with a 1060 nvidia card.

So, help please... if you have the solution...
Playing with my friends through Discord too. Any kind of problem could be linked with it ?
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • I precise that it's not the same file corrupted and i have the problem again after re-installing it... Never had such a bad luck like that on this game...

  • Up please,
    Still have problems...

  • Have you tried checking the drive to make sure it's not failing? I'll occasionally get this error immediately after an update, then nothing until the next time the game updates, but if it's happening all the time to you then you might want to make sure your hardware is all working correctly (HDD and RAM).

For HDD, you could use Samsung Magician to check drive status.

For RAM, you might want to run it through Memtest

  • @d3adst1ck Hi !

Thank you for your reply. Sorry for not responding since your post.
I had a few month ago a lot of BSOD but never had the occasion to do a Memtest. I made a clean install of Win 10 after a proper format. My new SSD is clean.
Memtest is done now. One of my Ram was faulty. Got a new one to replace it. Fingers crossed to game without problems.
    I let you know.
    Have a good day/night !
    best regards.

  • Last time I had a “missing file” popup, and it offered a file integrity check, clicking yes would make it crash or happen again. Took me a few hours to realize i could try hitting no, and when i did, it stopped.

  • @klutchxkay Hi !

Yes i did a lot, loooooot of time and it was the same result.. But for some it could help, indeed !
