Getting pirate legend takes too long

  • I've heard that it takes roughly 250+ hours to reach this and honestly it's too much. Especially knowing that when you reach legend all you get is some extra cosmetics, a title, and even harder voyages. The devs need to realize that this is going to discourage other players from playing the game as the goal of pirate legend just seems a bit too out of reach. Hopefully the devs lower the amount of grind needed (I think somewhere around 150+ hours is more reasonable).

  • Its the end game, not for the faint of heart. Only the hardcore players are meant to reach it, not everyone.

  • 150+ hours is too short of a time to grind to legend, 250+ is perfectly reasonable.

  • Reputation with the factions can now also be purchased with doubloons, the new event currency you earn by participating in Bilge Rat Adventures. These letters will grant 1 full level of experience each beginning with the next Adventure next week.

  • @brazskii
Actually it should take even more...
PL is putting players away since it adds nothing new.
PL or tend to chase other players to PvP or get bored. Because doing Athena's take so much time to do the voyages and to gain reputation, and (personally) I don't even like the (only) set of clothes.

So take my advice and take even more time to reach PL.
Don't rush to take away the joy of the game from you.. 😜

  • It isn't that bad hitting legend. I could of done it 2 or 3 times over by now. I hit legend the 1st of last month and it has been made easier since then with the rng update.

Honestly, I think it is too easy if anything right now.

  • I think what would help out would be making it so the mysterious tavern person actually gave you something every 5 levels instead of keep telling you to level up again and again. Maybe you could snag an athena mission from em every 5 levels or something, ANYTHING!

After next week when you can use dabloons to power level the last few levels it wont be that hard at all

  • @lady-aijou does this 1 level still apply if you're at level 48 or 49

Yes, it will be one full level per letter regardless what level you are.

  • Playing Battlefield 4 for the highest rank needs longer...

  • Cant understand all complaining of this PL status. It dont make u better at the game, Yeah u can chill in the cave and thats Hmme fun i think??? Naaaw

I rly hate How rare put in so u can buy lvls to reatch PL faster because that is like kicking away our feet’s that have grinding aaaaaaaallllllllll the way to legend.

You say 250H??? Well count in Athena aswell 96 chests and we are talking close to 5-600H with all standing still and pvp???

We want the game to take time to complet so its worth playing.

If u want to know the real problem.... to little players on the servers thats the problem (Not to hard to reatch PL)

Btw Im legend and Athena lvl 10 and have full time job and a gf (i still have a life)

U shuld look How ur gameplay is and put a goal and 100% find a Good crew.

  • @lady-aijou you cant select how much levels just one? i want like 3 for merch

  • @brazskii I would say it's way too long as well. Most good RPG's with massive amounts of content only take 60-80hr to finish. But what else are you gonna do? it's not like anything really changes when you reach pirate legend. They made the grind ridiculous to substitute the games almost complete lack of meaningful content. Unless they add "meaningful content", there's no good reason for them to shorten grind IMO.

  • Imagine how hard this game is going to tank the moment the "average person" becomes legend.

  • MEh what's too long in the grand scheme, it gives me something to grind for and im soooo CLOSE 50/50/41. And i have had plenty of emergent stories come from the tedious grinding. It's all part of it, but yeah grinding is not for everyone.

  • @roughleech03117 said in Getting pirate legend takes too long:

Pirates can purchase one level per Trading Company, per event, as it is not intended to bypass normal gameplay. It ties in the Bilge Rat Adventures with your other in game progress by letting you purchase the letters after you've earned the event currency.

  • But still (the game is not about to grind and grind and grind) the game is about,

Sail the seas, meet people, pvp, steal loot, sink ships, meet new ally’s, feel the thrill If u can trust them or not, the intens of seamonsters, have fun.

    Not grind grind grind

But the game lack players on the servers so the things i wrote about disapear in darknes.

So people just grind grind grind

U Will be PL sooner or later and, the game Will just be bigger and bigger (and i dont even wear My PL title because people start hunting you for quests its anoying and i have to block people,

Athena mission is not fun its just more grind grind grind.

  • Clocked in Pirate Legend at about 500 hours and thanks to friends and the hundreds upon hundreds of individuals I've had the pleasure of sailing with from the Sea of Thieves Community Discord this game has hardly felt like a grind. Take the time to sail with good people and the "grind" will be the last thing in your mind.

You'll get to Pirate Legend and realize its value with the time you invested into achieving it. It's no small feat.

    Good luck and happy sailing!

  • @lady-aijou now I feel robbed of my 30d, I only got 1/6 of a level at 47, I wish it was 1 level, I don't really mind that it wasn't, but if that's what they're doing now I definitely feel robbed

We are making the change based on player feedback from the Skeleton Thrones event, it was data we didn't have until the event was out and players were expressing that they felt the letters should offer more for the price. Considering you can only earn 100 doubloons per event, and the letters cost 30 of that, we want to ensure that from here forward it feels worthwhile if a player chooses reputation over the cosmetics. There will be plenty of chances to earn more doubloons as they will be part of every Bilge Rat Adventure to come.

  • @lady-aijou do we know if the price is increasing for these reputation letters? i assume so.

  • Don't ever lower the rep needed, some people worked hard for that! Unless you're going to start giving us something else for the months of work don't you dare lower the reqs! If people don't want to work that's their own damn fault, not ours, leave it how it is or risk losing every legend you've already got

  • @melbufrauma Meh...or the grindiest players at any rate

I mean, pirate legend is cool and whatnot but it's really not that big of a deal. one of my friends has achieved it. Took us to the legend hideout and showed us around. A lot of ghosts, cool. And he's taken us on a few Athena quests which are fun but also grindy (skeletons take a LOT of hits to kill), but in the end, it's what? Some extra clothes? Some extra sails, etc...

It's really not all that for the time you have to put in. It's bragging rights. You aren't missing out

  • @lady-aijou it's cool really, one level per event isn't a lot considering the 150 levels required for PL, I'm just bitter cos I spent my 30d without hitting a single lvl

  • No, it really doesn't. Play the game efficiently.

I'm PL, have a full time job, fiancee, and a social life.

  • @alzheimeers hey i know u hep C :D

  • All the pirate legends I meet are TROLLS.

    Don't rush to become one.

  • @lady-aijou Are you able to comment on if Rare has any plans for players who are already legend to be able to purchase some sort of Athena rep gain with doubloons in the future so legends don't feel left out? Not a full level obviously, but maybe 1 doubloon item that would be a % of XP gained equal to a Chest of Legends?

Is one per faction per event confirmed?

  • @lenny2k3 Probably will never happen. The "average person" will quit the game long before they get PL.

  • I have to agree... I dump quiet a few hours into the game over my weekends and I barely make a dent in my rep. Hell, this past weekend I went from 42 to 43.5.... Thats with turning over 30 chests and 2 skull forts...

Considering the fact that getting to 50 in everything just unlocks an even harder grind... Lower how much time it takes to get there. The game is nothing but a Beta with huge sinks for content... -_-

  • Doesn't take too long at all.

Sure hitting it ends up being a lot of time spent, but I'd laugh at any PL that hit it with like 300k sailed miles. You're still so fresh to this world young one :')

Doesn't necessarily need to be that much faster just because people want to treat it like a grind.

Like mentioned.. it's endgame. Sure more endgame content eventually comes out and maybe even gives people more of a desire or push to hit that endgame to experience or obtain the new things..

But if PL just got handed out like it was free candy.. idk. Game just wouldn't be the same, and the endgame would literally mean nothing to anybody.

Hardly efficient for hitting PL anyway.

    Not worth it high tier.
