It won’t kill the game and unfortunately I don’t think it will be changed because the vast majority of players just … don’t like pvp like it’s one of the funniest form of pvp I’ve seen in any game but majority are pve players who cry if they get attacked and sunked
They are changing the blunderbuss not because it’s too powerful (the sniper is equally as powerful I think) but because pve players complain that they get one shotted all the time instead of learning the game
The alternative would’ve been to buff the other weapons instead.
The new changes to the blunderbuss will kill the game
It's mainly just a different version of annoying against experienced crews.
As a solo that mostly just fights experienced and hostile crews that initiate the pvp I find it just a more annoying and less fun version of the gun.
So many exploit launch that it adds to that annoyingness.
There are lots of annoying things about the game though, I just work around them, other people work around them.
In experienced solo life against experienced crews it's not really about winning it's about having fun in a challenging fight and it's getting less fun for solos when the popcorn is added to the exploits that are so common and the naval reg that has become so common, no audio boards that are worse than ever, even wrong side boarding sounds, on and on.
It's a goofy gun in a goofy game that won't change much about the participation other than it will lead some to lean further away from pvping. Not any sort of major shift.
Hey! Blunderbuss user here since day 1. I was soooo against it trust me but since the nerf, I’ve been boarding a lot more now. Player skills are exposed now and it shows! I played against a player last night that usually beats me in HG. His name is [mod edit]. I beat him! It was great feeling. Now I sword/snipe and it’s been really fun! Hope this helps.
Hi ! I don’t wanna be mean but if he kept winning it just means that he is better than you and if you suddenly start to win because you can board easier it means it’s not a really good change I think that boarding should be earned like you built pressure to be able to board : if there is not enough pressure the person will guard the ladders and you will die. The pvp is now pretty much « If I down your mast first you are dead and you can do nothing about it because you can’t guard ladders efficiently » and that removes any possible comebacks and just a whole aspect of the pvp
Bro why are you flaming ? If you think I’m bad at the game yeah sure if you want but it doesn’t change the fact that boarding is just 10x easier now and doesn’t feel like a reward. The only people complaining at the one shot capability of the blunder was people that were bad at the game or simply new players and the better alternative to assist these new players is to buff the other guns like pistol double barrel pistol etc…
Also being able to one shot without the blunderbuss by switching double guns is not that crazy you are not the pro player you think you are so in solo vs solo the blunderbuss change isn’t really big but if you are against a bigger crew you stand absolutely no chance that’s why this change is mainly so bad
Just to put my thoughts on the table, after having tested the new changes. I'm all for it. Battles against other crews have been more fun, and drawn out in some cases. Sure, there's a few odd scenarios and it took a while to get used to, but I find it much more interesting now.
Trickshots are back, and I'm all for it. Blundered a pirate off my sloop, then tapped him with sniper before he hit the water. I hadn't laughed so hard in a while! Truthfully, and as others have said, this change really highlights folks' skill, and in some cases, lack of.
I think a large number of players relied on the BB as a crutch, because of it's insta-kill potential. Sure it had good boarder prevention, but honestly? I think it works far better now. In the last few hourglass matches I've done, repelling boarders with the new knockback has resulted in trades where the enemy can't get back to their ship as fast, and can really change the tide of battle.
I get folks are frustrated, but I feel like this opens up opportunity for people to learn and try other weapons.
Over the years:
- The game is dying (since 2018)
- The barrel inventory 2.0 update will kill the game
- Arena will kill the game
- Red sea running will kill the game
- Reapers bones will kill the game
- Removing Arena will kill the game
- Hourglass will kill the game
I dont know, but with all the things killing this game over the years it is pretty darn resilient
