1 vs 1 combat, I assume you are going to speak in isolation about CQC in that case right? Will you distinguish versus island and ship? Therefore you are going to be highlighting the aspects of a mouse and keyboard versus a controller, which by all means are available for both platforms may I add, in one aspect of combat and not even the most important one.
Yet... the importance of the: Bildge Rat (Navigator, Repairman and Canon), Deckhand (Sails, Canon, Ladder defence, secondary boarder), Helmsman (Steering, Sails, Canon, Ladder defense) shouldn't be underestimated. There is more than just a Boarder (CQC specialist and kegger).
Combat in Sea of Thieves revolves around more than just that. We have multipler roles that need to be covered in actualy pirate combat. You know the one where the stakes are actually on the line, where the last one still floating is the victor.
Controllers have the better feedback when it comes to the ship, the more natural flow and nuance when it comes to the ship meachnics and controls. I know, 'cause guess what I also tried it out. These aspects are usually overlooked by the anti-PC advocates, while they are very useful in the roles required on the crew and in solo play are in my opinion way more important.
Additionally as they are the defenders, they have the opportunity to strike together and using their numbers versus that one sole pirate, with a single life. In mutiple vs one, those CQC advantages might get one of you down but all 3... then you are just being outclassed and not by a small margin or you are making grave mistakes.
Yes out of the 4 roles in a Galleon, the PC shines the most as the face of the crew. The Boarder! The ability to aim quicker with a gun is an advantage, learning to play at high sensitivity is more difficult on a controller and voila the advantage is there. That doesn't mean xbox cannot stand their ground, till this day the best boarder I have known was a Xbox gamer... that man was skilled.
Yet, the other 3 roles also need a player: the bildge rat and helmsman get better feedback on a controller. There are many that prefer a controller as input device, because it sails nicer.... which is also a major part of combat, chases and strategy. The deckhand is more a 50/50 split, based on their style be it shipmate or more of a boarder. Each of these roles are a vital part in a crew.
If we want to talk about solo play in combat, where most of these complaints come from. I might be on a PC, I might even have all these so CQC advantages, while using a keyboard and mouse. Yet, when I am solo I fight like a pirate should: out on the seas. I rarely leave my ship in the presence of other pirates (situational), I avoid being boarded or removed from my ship at all costs and I outsail my opponents, if needed for hours, while cannons are roaring both ways.
All those CQC advantages, are used to stand above my ladders and shoot a target on the ladders or slicing them off my ship... which is just as easy on a controller. Anyone can be overpowered by multiple targets, taking on a full barrage from a galleon while anchored is fatal and a single death can end up in a loop with 3 or 4 guys awaiting your return. I might not sink you in 3 mins flat, but in all likelihood I will be the victor at the end if you just drop that ball once and lose composure.
In the end if you want to go towards not 'average' pirate, but the elite, the PRO vs PRO! Min/Max performance with the best rigs, the best setups, the best skill... there might be a difference, but lets be honest how many people play like that? Shouldn't we unite a community based on the average player you come across rather than the best vs the best and the little difference... cause guess what even there the win % of a PC pro vs Xbox pro will not be much higher than 55% and the majority of us are nowhere near that skill cap yet.
If you start about FPS... advocate for the cap to be increased, a 1080 support with a higher cap or an adjustment on xbox support. Why not fight to get graphics setting to increase the FPS and get better performances out of your machines maybe at the cost of visuals like PCs can do, rather than fight to get the PC players removed.
If you go on about latency... then you are just clueless, as geographical location and provider have way more impact than any equipement card.
Finally, please quite it with the: EASY MODE! EASY TARGETS! YOU JUST WANT EASY TARGETS! You have brought this up and it is just not true and why are you even implying it? You are the one here asking to be not facing more difficult targets in your opinion. You are the one going on about how PC players are to strong for you, how you want to be only facing what is in your opinion the 'weaker' gamers.
I do not see xbox players as a lesser gamer, I see them as equals and I have been WRECKED by xbox players and I have no shame in admitting it. Those guys were just better than me... or was it the fact that they were using controllers. Seriously... it is just a non-sense argument based on your own opinion on how bad controller players are and your admiration of the elite PC crew... which sadly most of the PC players aren't a part of.
