Krakens Have Skeletons!?
so these guys...
a lot of them, right? but that's impossible. octopuses nor squids have skeletons.
well, first off, the Kraken is a myth. there is no confirmed anatomy of the creature. it is just as believable to say a Kraken has bones as much as it is to say that they exist in the first place.
now there are hints that Rare's version of the kraken does have a skeletal features:
these could just be a colossal squid's natural claws located on the club-shaped ends of their tentacles. however, the way they are shaped and how big the claws are in the image makes it seem as if they intersect toward a center like finger bones are to a hand. that, and a colossal squid's claws are located on the pads of their club-shaped tentacles, not the sides, and they dont extend outward either; they hook.
also, most of these skeletons are found at an island specifically called "Krakens Fall." now these skeletons dont have arms at all, but than again, placing eight sets of bones in a row next to these skeletons would be a dead giveaway.
so look at the first image again and imagine two tentacles extending from just below each eye, one extending from between both eyes (take a look at the curve between the beak and the brow), and three more large ones below the jaw (perhaps the same three we see in the second image with the claws).
need more evidence? notice the beak:
EDIT: so ive been working on a piece of art that i hope you guys and gals will like. it is basically what i believe to be the Krakens design based on the skeletons mentioned earlier. plus, it's my first concept art for the game so i hope you like it!
there you have it fellow pirates.
Your Kraken. there, waiting for you to figure it out all along. But how many are still alive?
The Great Age of Kraken Hunting:
a kraken with a beak, a small boat with three people, and a beach with even more people on it.
looking closely at the kraken, one of its legs is detached from its body and darker than the others.
now the boat with the people on it. one person is reaching out like the people on the beach as if in celebration. the boat itself shows us the time period where these paintings were drawn.
notice that on Kraken's Fall, a large skull is stuck on the bow of a wrecked ship, implying that the creature was struck by the bow as it was alive.
perhaps there was a great many of these Krakens as man was sailing the seas. the painting could be a representing a day of celebration. but a celebration of what? of a legendary creature emerging from the depths and worshiped like a deity....
or is it because of a successful and bountiful hunt? bringing up the detached arm again, is this why most of the skeletons have no limbs, because their limbs offered either good meat? are Kraken arms the most valuable trophy for defeating them? were they believed to have some magical properties? we've already heard of the Kraken gameplay including some form of health per tentacle through data-mining, so slaying all of the Kraken's tentacles is the most effective way to defeat them and that's probably why they are missing from the skeletal body?
or, again, placing eight sets of bones in a row next to these skeletons would be a dead giveaway.
so my theory is that there was a great many of the Krakens. but their population was definitely a problem and they obviously were not deities if most of them were slaughtered and hunted as if they were prey. as they were killed, the arms were taken as trophies or just because they were good to eat since their skulls are already treated like trophies since some of them are mounted on man-made structures.
if these skeletons do indeed belong to a Kraken, than a great many of them died in a short amount of time.
