  • I like this format more than the old style in all honesty just need to variate the times to fit more overall info in closer to the release of an update to the live build of the game.

    • Storms are less frequent.

Finally the update everyone was really waiting for! @LucianSanchez82

  • Chest of Rage, a cursed chest?! mmh... it's just the last tool needed for our own hot tub parties! 🎉

  • @skulliah Just as we boil to death!

  • @octopus-lime I was really getting used to drawing my sword and getting insta-deathed!

I feel like me and the lightning connected on a certain level!

  • Not a fan of this at all.

Especially the section at the end which was just mindlessly pointless.

  • @musicmee not if you keep eating bananas 🤭

Hmm. Using streamers to do Rares job now.
    Poor show.

    well they love streamers now

    Poor show.

'Rare's job'? I don't know of any other game development team that do weekly update video and streams, so to imply that Rare are not doing their job is not fair in my opinion.

  • The format reminds me of a magazine style show... I quite like it just need a few more community based people/event mentioned and I'll be happy!

  • Personally like the new format. I give it two thumbs up. Now let's raaagee.

  • @mr-dragon-raaar
That's your opinion then I guess, I'm not sure on what planet them changing the format of their weekly update videos (which they are not obligated to do in the first place) constitutes them 'not doing their job', but hey that's the joy of the internet and getting to see other people point of view.

  • Streamers/content creators are a valuable resource to promote and spread the content of the game. Why on Earth would anyone have an issue with using that resource? That would be like throwing take out in the garbage because it wasn't cooked on your stove. Wasting it.

  • The only thing I'm truly sad about is storms being less frequent. 😅🌩😭 Sometimes when I play, I'm a storm chaser and I actually seek them out and sail into them lol. I'll go into the middle of them and drop anchor and fish for Stormfish! I literally just did that for about an hour yesterday, just being a full blown storm chaser following them halfway around the map and sitting in them to fish lol. 🎣 My new goal is to fish in them until I get a Shadow, then I'll move on to whatever else I'm doing lol. I hope the storms still spawn fairly regularly. 🙇‍♀️👍🌨I caught this beauty yesterday:

Edit: Now it seems the part that said that storms will be less frequent has been removed? Does this mean that storm frequency is not changing? If so, yay! 🎉

  • Nothing wrong with using streamers to advertise in a totally optional video but Rare does exhibit some slimy marketing tactics from time to time. Like holding shiny cosmetics out of reach until you link your twitch account or watch an xbox stream or like them on twitter or... buy cookies or whatever! It always puts me off this game when it's treated like an advertising platform to boost Microsoft's social media analytics.

  • @theunionjames Marketing like that has been around forever. You go to the fast food joint and you buy the kid meal and you get the theme toy. Food place gets customers and creator of toy gets promotion. Nothing slimy about it. Just marketing. Microsoft wants to promote mixer. Parent company goes hey Rare we would like you to promote mixer. If you watch their mixer channel you get a cosmetic. Promotions are all over the place.

  • @musicmee storms are less frequent? You mean lightning strikes are less frequent...or does the storm dissappear sometime 😉

  • No, not invisible storms that would be a nightmare! Yes I know there is some kind of bug in the game right now where this can happen!

Pretty sure it's meant, that the lightning strikes are less frequent...the storm is always there somewhere

  • @schwammlgott Fixed it :D That was my fault on the wording! Appologies.

  • @spiralout46and2

Pretty sure it means lightning strikes are going to be less frequent within the storm, the storm will still be roaming around as always.

  • They created a video and included a portion made by a content creator. So i fail to see how they used a streamer to create the video they themselves filmed and put out?

Personally I like content creation and some streamers. It adds depth and point of discussion for the game. It allows community members to interact with each other. Share ideas, learn new things, and it allows people to get interested in the game. If I want to check out a new game then I will go look up the content for it. Let's me check it out and see if I'm really interested. But mostly it allows people to be engaged in the community which is the best part. The forums can be great for that as well but when you slog through post after post of everyone complaining 24/7 it gets tiresome. It's more fun to enjoy the content and the community at the same time.

  • @realstyli It now reads...

Lightning strikes are now back to their normal frequency.

Apologies for any confusion there! An invisible storm could be a feature for a future sea battle!

  • @spiralout46and2 I don't think they said less storms. Just less lightning while in storms. Or less likelihood of getting hit by one anyways.

  • Overall I like the new format some. Though having Joe stumble over doing the whole thing himself was sometimes quite funny and enjoyable. So with the new format, we get less of that. Not sure how I feel about having the content creators/streamers be the focal point for the spotlight section. Though I will give props to Falcore as that was a pretty funny vid, though I did not see much in the way of new information.

I guess, I would rather see them do spotlights on the people that are just as committed to the game, but not necessarily already in the spotlight. I mean, streamers already get recognition, why not spread the love to others in the community that contribute in other ways?

Still waiting for my "best dressed" or "most frequent use of the lifeboat" Legends of the Sea entry.

  • Thank you so so so so much for the lightning strikes. It was cool to finally finish the Party Boat achievement, but getting killed 400 times in a storm when not holding a sword was getting super old, super fast. Haha.

  • @excitedcaius LOL, as I am waiting for my crews "we were first to survive a mega keg(before they got nerfed) without sinking, while in a kraken and getting attacked by two other players ships full of fort loot" legends of the sea entry. LOL

  • @Schwammlgott
    @RealStyli
    @NoFears-Fun

Yes, thanks everyone 😊🤝 When I first read the thread, I saw in the highlights that it said storms will be less frequent. But now I see it's been edited to indicate that it's about the lightning strikes. Very happy about that! Cheers to all! 👍🌨🎣👏🥳

Can you believe there are folk that actually think they have been a benefit!!

I've lost count of how many people I see comment on videos or in live streams asking where to get the game from. Or saying that they started playing the game after watching someone else stream it. I'd say that's a benefit.

A bigger audience and publicity is good publicity, irrespective of our own personal thoughts on content creators.

  • The new format is good, give visibility to content creators, but...
..But as a suggestion, improve the graphics, a better intro and a better animation of the banners.

  • Good to see that old Neate still has a place in SoT's video content.
Executive Producer Joe "The Talent" Neate

I must say I do like this new format of informing the community about current events!
    NEW AND INTERESTING WAYS!!!

  • @sgt-palooggoo We need more Chapman in upcoming videos!

  • Like that they added Falcore's video into it.
