I feel like 95% of the encounters I've had with this cooldown have done nothing but provide a hindrance whenever someone actually DCs or a player joins just to get bored within 5 minutes and quits without leaving through the menu. The other 5% being the cases where someone actually DCs and is going to reconnect. It's just a drag and I feel it's hardly providing any benefit in adventure mode. Just now I was going to join someone who was doing an athena voyage but someone had just quit and I sat there for what seemed like forever twiddling my thumbs.
What is the purpose behind the ~10 minute cool down of another crew member joining if someone disconnects?
I believe it’s to do with the facility to reconnect to your old session.
If you disconnect, the session locks so that you can reconnect.
However, if you quit, the servers still locks in case it was a disconnect and you wish to rejoin.
I agree this is frustrating and needs looked at somehow, but in the grand scheme of things having the facility to reconnect is such a lifeline, especially for solo players.
@peteloaf777 Ah, I didn't know that it helped solo players reconnect without losing their ship. That makes sense. Still, while that's all fine and dandy for whenever you play solo, I wish it would recognize when it's not necessary. Most especially when people join a crew and then disconnect themselves shortly after.
@drbullhammer Aye, I'm aware that leaving through the in-game menu lets others join in immediately, but I've been seeing a lot of people in LFGs who just force quit the game or something either out of spite, trolling, or they literally just don't know about this mechanic. Leaving the crew locked out of a member for a good chunk of time.
