Storage Crates vs. SC of the Damned

  • So, we've never been able to sell storage crates to the Merchant Alliance for what I had assumed were balance reasons, but now with Storage Crates of the Damned gracing our shores, which are essentially the exact same thing, why is it that we can now sell 1 but not the other?

  • @galactic-geek prolly just to get them off the servers

That's a good answer actually. I've already noticed slower load times during the ghost ship events (even with a SSD). Still, if you're right, why don't they allow us to sell the normal ones to further free up the server too?

  • Well Storage Crates of the Damned are a bit harder to get, and maybe their mystical properties are sought after by the Merchant Alliance for stealth technology.

  • Can someone fill me in on what a Storage crate of the Damned is?

  • I think the main reason they were added was as a means to allow players to restock in the midst of battle without increasing the starting ship supply's for those that jump in a set sail off the bat.
I'd have rather of seen a slight increase to starting supply's personally.

The reason they are sell-able i guess is due to the effort needed in obtaining them. Which is a heavier commitment compared to coming across loot on a shore line/ in a wreck etc

The new world event drops Storage crates of the damned. They’re usually filled with cannonballs and planks, along with the new phantom cannonballs.

  • @ecaiiaw Actually the new phantom, fire-phantom, and wraith cannonballs all come in a different kind of crate (though they can certainly be stored in 1 after-the-fact).

For the record, I hate the new weapon's appearance. Too bland and blurry - I think they need refinement.

Also, those SCotD? They hold ~30 cannonballs and wooden planks. They're the sole reason the new event is doable.

I know they come separately but are you saying the crate is named differently? Must have missed that if it is, but I was just saying you can get those items in crates.. not together.

    Let’s hope so lol

  • The point I don't really get (and I'm not complaining about it at alll), is why do we have loot from the three main factions (OoS, GH & MA) at the same time while doing a OoS related quest ... It seems that this new type of quest is really stronger, XP/Money related than the others. Of course, it's very much easier to spot you doing it and to take you down while at it, or stole it (even partially) from you ...

That why. Your last point is what makes it risky to get the loot. I was worried it was just going to be skulls and that’s it. But when this was a world event, it makes sense to make it all 3 alliances. Even better for reapers.

It is under a different name; it even has a differ picture on the crate. I would have mentioned the name in my previous post for you too, but I forgot what it was called. 😅

  • @galactic-geek Because you went through a lot more effort to get Storage Crates of the Damned.

But regular storage crates are rarer.

  • @galactic-geek Not really, and also regular storage crates aren't as "special".

Aren't as special? The ONLY difference between the 2 is their name and appearance! Functionally, they both do the exact same thing!
