So at this point I am lvl 14 in hunters call and I am realizing that grinding this will be very tedious and monotonous. Now I know that this is meant to be a side thing and that you just turn in the fish you have. However, I think that it would be awesome if hunters call would become more of a immersive guild that a side project for pirates. So, I propose whaling missions for the hunters call. Harpooning a meg is really fun and imagine doing something like that and getting rewarded for it.
You would start the mission by getting the quest from a seaport andYou will receive a bounty with a location on it (similar to ghost ships). Once you get to said location, you will see the whale surface and blow a bunch of water in the air. Then it will start to swim away from you (not to fast because then it would be impossible), and once you get close enough, the whale will start going faster trying to get away from you. The only way to kill the whale is to shoot it with cannon, but because it is always moving, it will be near impossible to shoot it with cannons. Unless, you harpoon it and ride along with the whale for a bit (similar to how whales have been hunted in the past). After riding with the whale for a few minutes, the whale will then become tired and stop moving then allowing pirates to barrage the whale and hopefully kill it. If it doesn’t die after a couple of minutes, the whale will raise its tail and splash the water dealing knock-back to any ship that is to close. The whale then will start to swim again and then cycle will continue until you kill the whale.
The rewards can be whale oil, blubber, or whale meat.
There also could be different variants like blue whale, whale shark, or the deadly killer whale that after it is done with the tired phase, will (instead of water tail slapping) will come bite the boat and then run away.
Also just to clarify, I don’t dislike the hunter’s call guild. I think it’s a really fun concept and experience, but I think this could bring some life and thrilling aspect back to the hunter’s call.
