FPS Drop

  • Hi

I would like to ask for help due to the frequent FPS drop that my game has.

So, first of all, those are my specs:
    Processor: I5-3470 3.2 Ghz
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GTX 1050 2GB VRAM
    RAM: 8GB
    No SSD

So, i play the game in the lowest graphic option possible, and i got 60 FPS with no problem most of the time, but sometimes the game suddenly has a big FPS drop, frequently going to 1 frame, mainly when reaching a new island or seeing for the first time something.

For example, when i pull my bucket for the first time, i got an FPS drop. When i pull my cutlass for the first time, i got an FPS drop.
But in most of the time i don't bother that much, the problem is those FPS drop happening every time i see a player for the first time, which frequently is an insta kill to me.
I already lost the count of how many times i lost all my progress due to those FPS drops.

I tried to send an ticket for the support, but apparently the support page is down, so i can't send an ticket.

Do you guys have any tip that i can use to avoid those FPS drop? Or even when the support page is going to be up again?

    Thanks for any support.

  • SSD can be a massive issue as if the game hasn't finished loading all the islands then it can lag and stutter.

This sounds like you're getting bottlenecked when the game tries to load textures from the disk. What kind of hard drive do you have the game installed to?

  • @d3adst1ck I don't have SSD. My game is installed in a normal HD

  • @guepardo6741 There are different types of "normal" HDD. Is it a 5400rpm or 7200rpm drive? How much cache does it have? Have you checked it for bad sectors or other issues lately?

  • @guepardo6741 HDD are generally not recommended as windows 10 loads up stuff while the game also loads up stuff.Hdd is slower than anything in you pc.Now mind you it's a 60gb game.Hemce loading it's textures take time.So when you fire a cannon suppose the HDD continues to load the data and if the data isn't loaded the screen freezez

  • I love this, as I play with my settings set for 60fps, when it comes to PvP I'm playing with 24-30ish fps sometimes lower. It's great! :D

    My Current PC Build:
    Processor: i5-4690 3.5GHz
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 2GB
    RAM: 16gb
With my game installed on an SSD.

    I feel your pain @Guepardo6741

  • @d3adst1ck My HDD is 7200rpm with 16MB of cache and no, i didn't checked the bad sectors.
By the way, i figured out that my game was running on 1080p. I put on 500p and the problem with loading items is over, but the freezing when reaching a new island still happening.
