Use Private Servers to appease the PvE crowd.

  • First off, no I am not asking to add the normal progression to Private servers so that when they release and eventually become publically avaiable people will just use them for rep/gold/Commendation farming.. That's why alliance server communities sprung up.
However, I do want to suggest to not completely strip private servers of progression.
    Here is the idea:
On private servers, you can do literally everything you can do in normal adventure mode, Voyages, Events, Tall Tales etc, BUT The Rep is like the ships and Inventories in the game.. Session Based. Meaning any gold rep (and/or commendations) you earn on a private server will be gone the moment the game considers you off the server (no prompt to continue session on your own, no slot on a crew reserved for you).
With a system like this people who want to take a leave from PvP treats for a while for whatever the reason may be (like wanting to run a tall tale to enjoy the lore without needing to worry about getting attacked) can still play as normal just don't receive any lasting rewards.
Resetting progress to 0 by default when on a private server could also give CCs the chance to hold contests, like "Who can make the most money in a certain time" or the sort.

no thank you if it happens I hope you can't get rep or gold

  • Idea is promising.
If you want to pve only and still make progress, have at it. But at the end of session, start over.

I’m actually hoping they add the “host” of the server gets small admins controls. Such as allowing or disallowing skeleton spawns on a island. Or pick a zone on map to spawn skeleton ships.

  • @scoutaloo here we go again...the daily private server request...just with a even more senseless idea...these people get more and more creative...

yeah and we all know most of us at least know that it's never going to happen

  • wow, what a giant waste of coding hours.

  • Being able to play in a safe environment at all in the first place seems like appeasement enough, with reasonable incentives and pros/cons on both sides to keep it balanced IMO.
