CPU and GPU Utilization

  • So currently I'm hitting anywhere from 80-110 FPS at Maxed (Mythical everything) settings at 1440p with a 144FPS frame limit, but I'm not hitting it.

My CPU is only at around 35% and GPU is only at about 50%, I don't know if this is Nvidia drivers still not being polished or if this is Sea of Thieves mismanaging my resources.

    Specs:
    Intel i7 6700k
    32GB of DDR4 (2800Mhz)
    RTX 3070 (Founders Edition)
The game is on a Samsung 860 EVO SSD

    Edit: I'm playing at 1440p 144hz

What type of monitor are you using?? Is it Gsync enabled and what type of input cable are you using?

  • @xultanis-dragon
It has G-Sync enabled and it's over DisplayPort
    It's an AOC Agon AG271QX

  • @emb1647

Id suggest playing around with your monitor settings or find the display settings and make sure your monitor is running at 144mhz. If you are certain the monitor is running at that speed and everything is good, then check your nvidia settings. You could have some default profile loaded up for Sea of Thieves that probably needs to be updated to higher settings.

SIDE NOTE Did you turn gsync ON for your monitor??

  • How do u even get pass 30fps and screen tearing? I got a PC not to long ago and still trying to figure out my issue. Any my rig isn’t the issue

  • @xultanis-dragon

My monitor has been running at 144hz since I bought it 3 years ago, idk about the whole default profile thing, never messed around with that. Yes I turned on G-Sync like 9 months ago and when I put in my 3070 yesterday, I made sure it was on.

If you are getting screen tearing that is frame rate issue. Might have to turn on vsync or make sure you have the proper connections. I don't have screen tearing and I'm at 90.

hmmm, the profile would be in the nvidia experience if when you installed the 3070 drivers it probably asked you to link a profile to your games or what not. All my suggestions are just that, suggestion. Without being there and seeing everything for myself I can only go by what you tell me and what I assume you did or didn't do.

your rig sounds fine to run all of that if not more so the only think I can fathom is that there is a setting somewhere limiting the output on the card.

I'd check to see what happens on other games. If you can get other games to run on 144mhz then you know its isolated to Sea of Thieves. If its happening with other games then you know its either card or settings.

  • @xultanis-dragon ok vsync fixed screen tear. Won’t go past 30.

  • @demon5379

Right click your desktop. Go to display settings. When the windows pops up, go to the bottom to advanced display settings, click that, when the next window pops up click the display adapter properties, on the top, click the monitor and check the mhz speed for your monitor, increase it if its at 30mhz.

The mhz is the refresh rate of the monitor. It will only go as high as the the setting on the monitor.

    30mhz - is for 30fps
    60mhz - is for 60fps

    so on and so on.

Yeah I thought you meant GeForce Experience profile, but I uninstalled GeForce Experience a long while ago cuz it messed with my OBS (idk why but softwares are weird), SoT is the only game so far giving me such an issue so I really don't know what it is.
