New Underwater or Sky Monster Ideas

  • There are many possibilities of there being a new creature added to SoT.

    1. Basilisk/Phoenix - A deadly flying lizard or bird, made of flames, that resides in the Devil's Roar, slumbering deep in the region's volcanoes, be it on island or out in the sea, it can attack at any moment and can be hit broadside when it comes flying towards either side of the ship before it can set fire to your vessel with its mouth or grab a crew member with its claws.

    2. Hydra - A long snaked sea serpent that can slither around ships and spew poison from its mouth, it's head can be destroyed, but can regrow (not many, just one head), and can be damaged with fire to keep it from growing back fast.

  • We need more NPC threats.

  • I like this idea of the Hydra, or maybe A white Whale it would be similar to the Meg, but it would add a bit a flavor to the enemies you find.

  • @likeamikelp Like human npc threats besides skeleton enemies? There is the Grand Maritime Union, who are secretly gathering all the ancient coins sent to the outside world by the Emporium shopkeepers so they can sail their large vessels through the Shroud to the Sea of Thieves. My guess is that they want to plunder all the riches and bring order, much like the East India Trading Company from PotC.

  • @impymidna Ok cool. But I never met them. It's just that fighting skeletons over and over does get boring.

  • i would like to see more on land enemys monsters

  • No more monsters!!!

  • @quietrobot More monsters!!!

A white Whale when compared to a white meg does not add flavor; it adds redundancy. There are reasons why we don't have whales to kill, but can freely kill megs that already represent that great creature from famous literature.

It seems to me that there are already enough, adding more would mean more fantasy and more a Sea Of Monsters than a Sea Of Thieves ... Ark Survival.

Also, it seems like a very simple and easy way to fill in content.

  • @quietrobot Skeletons, mermaids, ghosts, krakens, megalodons*, and curses. I think we're well past that fine line.

*Technically, megalodons are, or at least were, real. 😅

I think we should not consider it that way, skeletons, mermaids, ghosts, krakens and curses, they all belong to the classic lore of Pirates.

The Basilisk and the Hydra belong to Greek mythology.
The "Kraken" is named in Scandinavian mythology, but we remember it from the legendary pirate David Jones, as well as being based on a real creature, the squid.

We don't think we need big creatures turning the game into an Ark. Remember that soon we will have a new enemy, already seen in art books and conferences... evil mermaids! that is going to be interesting.
