4K Ultra HD? Yeah, Sure... 🙄

While looking at Sea of Thieves using 4K Ultra HD on my Xbox Series X, I can still see pixels upon starting a session at a certain table in the tavern due to a very large scratch in the woodwork.

    Why? It's totally immersion-breaking!

Either fix the texture's resolution/rendering, or remove the scratch altogether! It's jarring to see! 😖

  • @galactic-geek I believe when changing resolution it won't affect game textures. It just makes the game sharper, right?
About the immersion, you'd really have to scope in to see jagged edges. Also it's a cartoony game, the textures are caricatured and aren't supposed to be realistic...

  • @jumli7 You don't have to scope in at all. At the start of a session, your face is practically lying in it - and is probably what caused it. 🤭

  • Imagine playing on Xbox X. Laughs, then cries, in still having an Xbox One X

  • Haha. Yeah I hate that table scar texture so much. Every time I wake up to it, it bugs me just a little bit more.
And you know there’s no way the developers would’ve allowed it at release, it’s just one of those things that has come up overtime, starting every session like this was never intended.
I don’t think it has anything to do with the Xbox. But yeah, if I was Rare I’d go in there and throw some more polygon at those tables.

  • Move farther from the screen and it will be gone 😂

  • I love it, it reminds me the cel shading graphics from Borderlands.
One of the reasons ive fell in love into Sea of Thieves 😁

I don't mind the cel shading - it's the jagged pixels that bother me.

  • Everything loads in first with low LOD textures, which are replaced with higher quality textures after the scene is set. There might also be a priority system, which makes sure ships and player characters get processed first before loading static element textures, which is why the table shows in low quality at first.

At 1st? It's always bad! Even from a distance, you can see the jaggies! 😟

  • Imagine complaining about this in a public forum....
