Suggestion: Siren Monarchs

  • Sirens and Ocean Crawlers are a sweet addition, and the fact that they can drop loot is awesome. However, I have a small issue, one that is easily fixed. Here's a breakdown of who drops what gems:

Sapphire Siren Gem: Siren Grunts and Electric Boogaloo
Emerald Siren Gem: Siren Leaders and Stinky Breath
    Ruby Siren Gem: Crabcakes.

See the issue? There is no Siren that drops Ruby Siren Gems. Attentive pirates will have noticed in The Sunken Pearl, the Siren Queen dons a Ruby Siren Gem. It wouldn't make sense to have the Siren Queen randomly appear in Siren encounters, so here's my suggestion:

Add a third Siren type, called the Siren Monarch. These are the heirs to the Siren throne. They will be pink and don a red gem, and will look similar to the Siren Queen, but with less coral. They could be akin to a skeleton captain, their name in red above the head, and they will retreat and summon more sirens before returning to the fight, just like the Siren Queen did. These will be rarer, and stronger than Siren Leaders, but will drop a Ruby Siren Gem. Only one will spawn at a time, for balance.

Thoughts? I think there should be a way to get Ruby Siren Gems from actual Sirens, that makes sense, right?

  • @klutchxking518 this would be cool I think! Maybe there could be coral lairs and that could be where they spawn. There would have to be bubble plants as well so you could fight for long a long time, it would make sense for there to be a red gem so maybe they will add this

  • @omega-geek2759 Well I wanted them to spawn during normal encounters. The only way to get a ruby siren gem is by killing something that isn't even a full on siren. I think there should be a small chance that when a group of sirens spawns, one of them will be a monarch.

  • @klutchxking518 yeah that makes sense. How would the siren attack though? We already have all the possible attacks/weapons or would just be a leader but with a stronger attack?

  • @omega-geek2759 Stronger attacks, and after it takes enough hits, it'd summon some sirens and run away that you'd have to defeat before it comes back.

  • @klutchxking518 oh ok that would be cool. You have my vote 😆

  • I think this is a great idea. I have just two issues: the name is a little odd and spawning more enemies is usually somthing reserved for boss fights.

The siren queen IS the siren monarch ( the mon part of monarch means one). Change the name to "siren noble" or "royal siren" somthing like that.

Spawning more enemies is somthing skeleton lords can do, and now the siren queen. emergent encounter dont have boss fight mechanics, unless that emergent encounter is a boss itself like the meg or Karen. So I would say it's great to have them have more health and be stronger leaders of the sirens but not have them be a boss fight.

  • I could see this happening as part of a new voyage type for potentially the Hunter’s Call (not Order of Souls as I don’t think it makes sense for the Order to hunt sirens).

  • Yet another interesting idea from ol' klutch.

I do like the thought of the sirens giving out siren gems, and 3 tiers of sirens for the 3 gem tiers.

This frees up the big bruiser ocean crawlers to drop something different, like a new kind of meat: Crawler Meat. Make it equivalent to shark meat in cook time, health gained, sale price and rep gained.

Then perhaps give us a new hunter's call commendation for turning in 50 cooked pieces of Crawler meat.

Just brainstorming off your original idea, though a new type of meat is probably a bit redundant, I know.

  • @jaegerdelta3465 The naming could absolutely be easily changed.

But about emergent encounters having "boss fight mechanics"... the big crabcake crab people, crab people can turn their teammates invincible until you target the shielder? I consider this a boss-mechanic. The siren queen does it 2-3 times, these siren royals could do it once, and then done.

  • @bactatankbill Uh, no thanks to cannibalism. You do realise that Ocean Crawlers are pirates cursed by Mermaid Statues, right?

  • @klutchxking518 I was not aware. Consider my suggestion retracted
