Best voyage types to earn Emissary Value for each trading company

  • Ahoy,

Apologies if someone already asked this (took a brief skim through the topics).

What are the best voyage type for gaining emissary value for each faction?

As an example for merchant is it more worthy while doing commodity trading or seeking the lost shipments.

My mathematic knowhow is pretty poor so any one that can give me a run down on each I would really appreciate it.

  • Personal opinion so it may differ for others:

Merchants - Lost Manifest missions IF you find the captain's key. It is a risky mission but, you will have flag 5 by the end of it and make serious points.

Order - Devil's Roar Order missions; grab a minimum of 2 as the first one you get might not get you up to flag 5 and can easily be supplemented by taking on a second voyage (complete or stop once you get your 5th level and turn in).

Hoarders - Devil's Roar Vaults (as long as you successfully open the extra chamber)

None too sure on Athena's Fortune but, have been told that the Thieves Haven run is a good way to grind it (but, this sounds too much like dull work)

Reapers - Fort of the Damned is your friend, as long as you can keep your crew alive to drop off your booty once the mission is over from those other crews who heard the dinner bell ring.

Hunters - Gems are your friend here

  • Hoarders - Devil's Roar Vaults (as long as you successfully open the extra chamber)

    Extra chamber?!

  • When you open a vault, there are 3 medallions strewn inside that you add to the middle table that will then give you a combo lock you have to open before the room floods. Opening that chamber will net you a "Chest of Ancient Tribute" that's worth a pretty penny and scores out on one of the Hoarder commendations.

  • whatever you do you're going to want to work as many skelly ships and megs as possible into your session

fastest way to boost the emissary grade and bring in high quality loot to sell to that faction

collect tridents and you can kill megs in like 15 seconds

take down every and all skelly sloops

island captains help a lot too if you can efficiently solve riddles to the medium sized islands. Good source of quality loot and emissary grade rep

I view voyages as secondary not primary. Primary should always be skelly ships and megs as time wise and loot wise you just can't really beat them

Skelly ships have fairly predictable but high quality loot
megs have much more RNG and potential for massively lucky payouts especially for merchant and souls. I've found as many as 4 ancient bone dust from one meg and 3 stronghold skulls and ashen villainous skulls from one meg. This is huge opportunity for time efficient profit, always kill megs. Also both are great sources of gems which are great for any faction.

I know you said voyage but the best thing to do for emissary value is FlameHeart event.

Will get to grade 5 usually in any faction if you gather all the loot from all the potential drops. Now only will you be grade 5 but you will have all tier 4 quality loot for each faction.

I think when I did the FlameHeart solo I picked up about 80 to 100 pieces loot??

  • @rabbitsshadow for Athena its the Roar athena quests. While Thieves Haven may be easier without volcanos, you are much more likely to run across other pirates. Reapers or not, people will be tempted to take a run at your flag.

1 Roar athena will not get you lvl 5 unless you get lucky and get several skelly boats and megs. otherwise buy 2 and do them back to back. The nice part about Roar athenas is the volcanos help kill skelly captains quickly.

I guess he means the ancient chest with that...

  • @schwammlgott Yeah, he got me excited at first like the DR Vaults had an extra vault chamber in them or something. Now, that would be something!

This is both true and the hardest part of doing it solo, selling all of it and collecting it up on your own takes forever! I've actually considered opening the crew up just for a hand selling before.

  • @reedski

No lie I actually handed it off to a crew. Once a long time ago and another was like a few weeks ago. I can't remember why I did the FlameHeart in the first place but I remember collecting it ALL, and then I had loot from another ship that came in to attack, then meg loot, skelly ship loot. 2nd time same thing, just too much loot and I didn't want to sell it all.

I saw a ship in the distance and I was like hey.....ally with me and sell this stuff lol. I just wasn't having it that day. I didn't care if they sank me and took it or whatever. I pulled up to the outpost put up the ally flag, said "hey sell all of this" and went to go make food. I had no motivation to sell any of that stuff.

  • So, the best and Safe way is do stuff at Devil's Roar ... Right?

  • @elci-poteh

Yes and no. Players know that ships do Athena's and Merchants in the Roar. Merchants because of the high gold and rep but also because the islands are super easy to get to, you basically just keep sailing north and south while picking up and dropping off. Athena's because its super easy and quick to do. The only downside is the volcanoes if you are solo and if you are picking up loot.

If you throw up an Athena flag there is a chance if a Reaper ship lands they are going to go straight into the Roar, the percentage is about as relative as their starting position. The closer to the roar the higher the chance. Galleons Grave or Ancients the chances are pretty high they'll roll into the Roar to give it a glance. Reaper ships know that players do Athena's in the Roar because its way out of the way.

Gold Hoarders definitely safer in the Roar as no one really looks there for one, same with OoS. Merchants and Athena's is are the known factions that fly in the Roar. Players will only check roar for merchants if they already cleared out the server. Athena's again will depend on starting point of the reaper ship.

But yes, Roar is pretty good place to do stuff, wouldn't say "safe" but definitely out of the way and safer then most area's. HOWEVER, still keep eye on that horizon. Lots of players forget because they stay in the Roar for so long never seeing a ship that they just completely up and forget that there are other ships on the server. Even though its safer, you still need to be on the lookout. Safer doesn't mean absolute.

Only if people like the area. It's not for everyone. It's got a purgatory feel for many. Grim and gloomy for some and some enjoy it

This game is also about being in types of areas that you enjoy. Some people enjoy the pretty and bright areas and some are alright in the roar and wilds. It's doing a lot of the same stuff over and over so might as well do it in areas that set a mood people most enjoy.

A person can make a lot of gold anywhere these days imo a game that is a time suck like this a person might as well pick the vibe that best fits their personality and preferences.

Servers have so many random things that happen on them I wouldn't sacrifice a positive vibe over sometimes being safer on some servers.

but if a person doesn't care or enjoys that type of scenery then it's a good choice
