A question about treasure hunting quests

  • Hi, I was at the Crooked Mast island for a Voyage and on that island I killed some sceleton pirates that had several chest treasure riddles / quests for me.
I am pretty sure I finished all the quests there. And later when I came back to the island I got the same treasure riddle quests.
Did I not finish that island, or is the game just like this? It would feel like a wasted time if you did not get a "finish chest quest" thing on Crooked mast island.

  • You can get multiple riddles on the same island, but there are tons variants of the riddle so you don’t ever really repeat the exact same steps.

It’s a sandbox game so there’s no you finished this island or that island. The only real goal is to get pirate legend, and in my opinion, that’s just the beginning of a legendary adventure.

  • When you kill skelly captains on small islands it will give you a riddle to one of the nearest bigger islands. When you kill a skelly captain on a bigger island it will give you a riddle for that island you are on.

If you killed a nearby captain it's likely you got a new riddle for crooked masts

an example here. If you kill captains where I circled you'll often get riddles to crooked

as people roam around killing things they tend to rack up the riddles or pick up new ones to places they just were so you probably picked up a new one in the area

In the bottom right hand corner of the riddle was it a grey envelope or a gold color? grey envelope will be a skelly captain and grey bottle will be a quest from a bottle. These are optional and are not required for your voyage. If it's a yellow/gold color that is your voyage mission and that will be required to finish the voyage

There is a lot of info to take in but if you need any more help let me know and I can try to help

  • Thanks for the replies! I understand it now.
