    yeah I drank it and it's given me 2 commendation credits for every one I've sold

    Yeah, that's a weird one I noticed also. They are all counting as double for me on the commendation.

    We probably shouldn't even be selling them to the companies. No good can come from this.

    SPOILERS:

    Mermaid Gems are imbued with Breath of the Sea, turning them into Siren Gems which are implanted into those that the Sirens capture, their souls are bound to Mermaid Statues and they emerge as Ocean Crawlers.

    Yeah, I wouldn't drink that if I were you.
