Xbox Series X/S Duke Ship Set Expiration

  • "In honour of the current #Xbox20 celebrations, we've extended the window on the Duke ship set until the end of 2021!"

-Why not just leave the window open given the supply shortage of these consoles? It's a cosmetic supporting the community who play on these devices, yet a very large portion of the community cannot currently obtain these next gen consoles. And they most likely will not be able to for some time into the future to no fault of their own.

The original deadline for the Duke set was in May 2021, 6 months after the launch of the Xbox Series X|S.

Then Microsoft and Rare were aware of the hardware shortage and so Rare extended the deadline to November 2021.

Now they're extending the deadline to the end of 2021 to celebrate Xbox's 20th anniversary.

I'm feeling like this should just be borderline permanent with all these extension periods over a console that won't stop going low of stock and is still competing to be in most of this game's playerbase's households.

The only way to get the Duke set is to play on a Series console or on Xcloud.

  • @grumpyw01f i try buying xbox game pass and play in XCloud and it's work.

I tried that a long time ago before I finally got my grubby pirate hooks on a Series X, and I realized that neither my phone, nor my connection were good enough for it to work (they still aren't). I guarantee you that there are a lot more people who are in the same boat as I was than you might think, and that can't even feasibly use that option until prices go down, goods become more readily available, or the infrastructure improves (or any combination of the above).

  • I don't think it'll ever not get extended they just aren't saying that it's fully released to give the appeal of a limited time cosmetic

It can be played on the PC via the Xbox cloud website, unless you are talking about your PC internet connection rather then your phone connection as being an issue.

I appreciate this thread as I did not realize one could get the Duke set by playing the game on Xbox cloud. Played Sea of Thieves for a little bit through the website on my PC and was able to get the ship set.

It does, however, require a controller to play. Not all PC gaming controllers are compatible with the website. Could try out any PC gaming controller you may have and see if it works before looking at the list to see which ones may be compatible. Used a Logitech controller I had which was not listed as being compatible, but it had still worked. Meanwhile, another Logitech gaming controller I owned hadn't worked.
