Art of the Trickster Skellie Waves

  • I'm working my way towards the gold curse, and have reached the Art of the Trickster. I can get the gunpowder key. I can get down to the Trickster's Lair and put it on the pedestal.

How many waves of skeletons should I reasonably be expected to fight? I'm doing this solo, and I've killed off at least a dozen waves each of the three times I've tried this. I've eaten all the fruit in the barrels, and still, the captain of the lair won't spawn. I've even restarted the Tall Tale three times, each time sailing all the way back south to get another key, and then back to Sailor's bounty three times. Each time, I fight skellies for a good 20 minutes with no apparent progression.

I can't recall ever rage quitting this game until this Tall Tale. And it's disheartening that even after I complete this for the FIRST time, I have to go through this four more times in order to qualify for the gold curse one day...

  • I haven't done it recently, but it was a good few. Have you triggered all the traps in the room?

  • want help?

if you do let me know when you want to set up a time and I'll join when you have the key at sailor's bounty

    Yeah he's good lol. I'd offer but I'm shy🧜‍♀️

  • Try to take advantage of the traps you find in the arena area, they make easy work of the battles. Be prepared to fight a couple of waves, and by a couple I mean quite a few of them. I believe that the reason there are so many waves is because you are meant to use the traps around you to make quick work of them as I have stated before

I find that grinding the OG tales can be really painful though so give yourself time and take brakes, don't get too burned out.

If you need help don'[t be afraid to ask, I'm sure you can find people on discord who might want to help you but if you don't use that then it's fine, you can find some here as well

I am also willing to help if you need it, just give me a head up

  • Thanks, y'all. Yep, I've tried activating the traps, and not activating the traps. But if there's quite a few waves, maybe I've just gotta be patient. I've got other crewmates I can drag into this, but if we can't get it done, I might need to hit up one or two of y'all. Thanks for the offers of assistance!

And I thought Fish Friends in The Legendary Storyteller was bad...

You could cook a few fish or hit up a shipwreck first and stock up on cooked meat
and take a storage crate with firebombs and decent fruit down there first

usually the tall tall barrels fill back up pretty fast but if it's not doing the job you can take your own supply down there first

  • If you use the spike levers it shouldn't take too long because those will destroy an entire wave if you have trained them to the correct side of the room. I wouldn't even bother with the swinging traps.
