I want to sit, and play instruments. Sit and raise a lantern, read a map... I want to sit and drink a grog.. get drunk then fall off my seat. It really adds nothing to gameplay... But For no real reason other than, why not?
Sit! AND do stuff!
Having features like this would make for great screenshots as well. Not a bad idea though with different sized pirates some of the animations might start to clip and look weird, I guess that's not really all that new though. It would be cool to have emotes you could as well! At the moment there is only one animation when you go to sit and I could see why it could get boring.

That might be the reasoning we don't have these things yet but I very much think we'll be seeing this in the future.

If you can do stuff on rocks, docks or other places I be game. But if allowed on ships that be another thing people complain about.
My shipmates don’t do anything but play music and sit. Or complain about pirates sneaking up on them because…they were sitting
some suggestions for people that are bored while sailing:
- adjust the sails! the wind is regularly shifting. pick a sail and babysit it, adjusting as necessary to keep wind.
- keep watch! head to the crows nest with your spyglass, and watch for possible danger. or go to the bowsprit and watch for resource barrels.
- do some fishing! fish are a great food source, and is something you will wish you had when you start taking damage.
- look for reapers on the map! cos 'knowing is half the battle'.
there are already a lot of things that a crew should be doing. sitting and plucking a banjo shouldnt be very high on the priority list for any crew.

It is requesting for QoL features to be added to the game by giving players the ability to do things while also sitting down. Like being able to sit on the end of the dock or boat, open the object wheel to select the fishing rod, and fish- while sitting.
@tehstepford it is not really to do with being bored. Believe me, my crew and I are never bored, and we run a well oiled machine of a ship. And Like I said, sitting and doing things is for pure aesthetic nonsense. Nonsense can be delightful fun

haha! I hear you there! We have found doing nothing on ship leads to a bad time and typically ends with our ship on fire 1000% of the time. Typically my crew and I are the ones doing the sneaking. We ARE the danger. It is very rare that any of us are doing 'nothing' And it does not have to be on the ship to sit and include other animations. Rocks, docks, taverns, chairs at campfires, cliffs. It does not have to be tied to the ship in anyway.
as I have said. this is for pure nonsense and would just be a fun addition meta role play addition to an already amazing game.
