I stumbled upon this idea after I found a chest of Ancient Tributes in the Shrine of the Ocean's Fortune. It felt a little odd and out of place, as it is the only shrine which can spawn this chest (as far as I remember). I personally love cursed chests and the interesting mechanics they bring to the game. My idea is, that there could be a new type of cursed chest obtainable from the shrines and treasuries alike. My suggested mechanic for this new chest is that it would occasionally call ocean crawlers to board the ship that it's placed on. This mechanic already exists in one of the new Pirate's Life quests. Now I can see a problem with sloops and big crabs due to the small amount of space, but perhaps there's a reasonable way to balance it for all ship types. Thanks for reading :)

I wish there was some sort of encounter that would have the ocean crawlers jump aboard your vessel. Seems a waste just to be a scripted moment in one Tall Tale.

There are actually three shrines that have chests of tribute. The third shrine being the shrine of Ocean's Fortune, which is in the shores of plenty.

I think the skelly carrying kegs would become a problem quickly however in my imagination thinking of a next gen sea of thieves 2, I’ve certainly imagined skeletons with the ability to board.@mostexpendable said in Cursed Coral Chest:

And can keep things spicy on your ship if you want to keep killing ocean crawlers for a long journey across the Sea.Could also be interesting for PvP, like sneaking the chest aboard a enemy ship. Might make for some funny moments!
that's what I thought, too! The possibilities for PvP certainly sound very entertaining to say the least! :D
But in general getting a new cursed chest like that sounds really nice!
The Ocean Crawlers could either just climb your ship like anyone else or they could basically jump out of the water, I feel like that would make for an even cooler entrance!
