More Reskins of the Sailor Cannons

    Lets start off the Sailor Cannons are arguably the best cannons in the game due to their size allowing for most additional vision. In addition they are the most universal cannons in the game, the cannons that no one has an excuse to not be used to using. They are the default and best cannons at that and one of the only cosmetics on the ship that actually matters since having a cannon your crew is used to is important so that they can consistently make line ups and hit their shots.

    There is currently only 1 reskin of the sailor cannons being the golden sailor cannons which are currently unavailable and I am in no way saying they should be made available again. However it is getting really boring using only the sailor and golden sailor cannons on all my ships.

    Fix is easy just make more reskins of the sailor cannons! Can we have silver ones for example, or red? So many colors so many options here! But just make sure they are reskins of the nicest and most used cannons in the game!

    Now please no one say you can get used to other cannons, which is 100% true, but I cannot expect every time I play with new players they will be used to playing with some other cannon that me and my friends are however one can expect everyone to be used to the default sailor ones!

    A lot of hulls change the color of the sailor cannons. Morning Star for example makes the Cannon’s base red.

    Basically there’s no reason for them to make new versions of them since a lot of hulls do that already.

    Also Magpie’s Wing Cannons are fantastic. They offer the same visibility as the sailor cannons but they add some extra flavor.

    Way back when the game launched, the only sail options available for purchase were the admiral, sea dog, and sovereign sails (and legendary, but most players weren't legends yet). People asked for more variety, so they eventually added the simple red, green, blue, etc. sails. These sails were (and still are) cheaper than the others to make up for their simplicity.

    The point I'm trying to make is that there is precedent for the very thing that you're asking for; I actually think this request stands a pretty decent chance at being implemented, especially if it becomes popular on the forums.

    @ninja-naranja they change the base of the cannons not the cannon themselves. This also applies to golden sailor cannons where the base of the golden sailor cannons get recolored but the cannons themselves stay the same.

    It is getting really dull constantly having the same cannon itself when a simple addition like this would be a huge QOL addition to the game.

    @ninja-naranja Magpie Wing are great cannons I agree BUT they are different than the sailors. I am personally used to them but have player with MANY MANY players who are not and insist that the sailor ones are put instead.

    At the end of the day if the cannon is different, line ups are different, and you have to habituate to it. Best solution is a recolor confused on why one would have any opposition to this?

    Plenty do, but it's not universal. Furthermore, they only change the wooden base. It would be nice of the metal barrel of the cannon was given more color options that don't alter its shape or size.

    @nitroxien a lot of cannons provide the same visibility as the sailor cannons. Whether or not you personally want to use them is up to you, not whether or not the Cannon is good.

    @limbicfanatic glad there is a chance for this to be implemented would be such a nice addition to the game! In all honestly if Rare wanted to take a different approach and make these gold sinks on the other hand I would not care either way.

    Just want to change up my ship a bit getting really really stale and I understand people wanting to use exclusively the sailor ones.

    @ninja-naranja No this is not true not MANY have the same visibility only a small small handful do MOST have additional coverings on top which changes visibility.

    Second even if this change is minute it is about line ups. I know my line ups on sailor cannons and I expect everyone I play with to know their line ups on sailor cannons. I also know my line up on magpie wing cannons since I spent time to get used to them but most players do NOT know their line ups on these cannons. They are different you NEED to get used to them.

    I cannot expect players to be used to line ups on any cannons else than the sailor cannons. If I am on a crew with other players I will demand sailor or magpie wings are put on and most players I play with do the same since they are used to other cannons.

    Just like players get used to a flintlock and learn how the sites line up on it they need to do the same for cannons.

    I do not get the opposition for such a simple recolor change that would be a huge QOL update for some players. This will in now way ruin your experience or lessen any of your accomplishments but will be huge for some players.

    @nitroxien I don’t think more cosmetics is bad thing, quite the contrary. But I personally think it’s dumb that some force others to use specific cosmetics just to sail.

    In my book, as long as I can still see where my shot is going, then I’m good.

    Hmm. Maybe they should continue the damned version of the sailor set we got from the Pirate's Life Tall Tale 3? Although Rare would probably have to make the cannons more solid than the rest of the set, as the see-through-ness could lead to easier shot placements.

    @el-spaniardchi I would love damned (but as you said solid) sailor cannons this would be awesome! Already picturing a ship with the ghost captain sails and PL S2 hull and S3 Figurehead that would look awesome with these!

    Just as we have simple recolours for the sailor flags, I'd love to see some recolours for the rest of the ship parts. Simple red, green, black, yellow hulls, cannons, capstans and wheels would be nice.

    Definetly solid hull and cannons, most likely solid sails, and doesn't really matter for the capstan, wheel, flag, and figurehead (if they wanted to add one)

    I try not to meta game too much, but some cannons are SO bulky and ridiculous that they will never go on my ship. The Ancestral (Ori) cannons, Sunken Sorrow cannons, Relic of Darkness cannons, and some others...just absolutely awful if you need to use your cannons at any point lol
