Volcano at Morrow's Peak Outpost

  • I would like to request that, if possible, leave the volcano inactive in Morrow's Peak Outpost in the Sea of Thieves game. The reason for my request is that it erupted and sunk my ship while I was selling the spoils of a Gold Hoarder journey that lasted 3 hours and earned me 230,000 emissary value. Due to the volcano, I estimate that I lost approximately 120,000 in gold and also the emissary bonus. This detracted my experience in the game and I wonder if I should completely avoid the region as it wasn't the first time.
Note: I have friends who went through the same situation.

  • that's part of the risk reward

morrow's is generally the safest outpost from pvp, it's hunted less and the interest in traveling to it is less so to make up for the high pay the pve picks up the risk slack

you can travel up to galleon's to sell, one of the easiest outposts to sell at

you can use a rowboat play for easier selling and to leave your boat at a safer spot

imo it's an appropriate risk for the increased prices and the lower pvp risk

  • @pedrofbrx Just because your ship sunk to a volcano doesn't mean it should be disabled.

That volcano on Morrows RARELY goes off, and every volcano gives you several warnings before it goes off.

-Geysers can happen on their own
-Earthquakes can happen on their own
-Geysers + Earthquake can happen on their own
-Smoking for 30-45 seconds has a chance to happen if an earthquake is in progress
-Only then will the volcano erupt.

The whole deal with the Devil's Roar is it's lack of safety. It's extra risk for double reward off of those ashen goodies. You can avoid the volcano and sail away before it goes off quite easily, and even if you fail to get away, it's quite easy to hunker down below decks and bail the water out as long as you have food to heal with. Even further, most times you sink in the Roar, you spawn in the Roar. You could have very likely returned and found your treasure still floating where the ship sunk.

Everybody makes mistakes, I sink to goofy stuff on random occassion too, and I've got 5000 hours ingame (I'm a nerd, sue me). I think it's more about picking yourself up, dusting yourself off, and planning differently the next time. And one more thing, having an extra crewmate never hurts, especially if you get nailed by a flying rock!

TL;DR, Watch for the island's warnings, plan ahead, bring a friend, and if you're a new player, expect the Devil's Roar to bully you.

  • @klutchxking518 You're right man, sorry for wasting your time.

  • @KlutchxKing518 @WolfManbush Guys, sorry for opening the request for a thing like that. I was pretty stressed the day this happened, I shouldn't have come here to disturb you.

This is a place for people to express themselves and offer their suggestions and thoughts on the game.

Nothing to apologize for, it was cool of you to return though. Welcome back, hope today is brighter for you.

  • @pedrofbrx Your concern is perfectly valid, my guy. Honestly, I also wish this volcano wasn't active and de-activating it gets my vote. Not everyone has to agree with that and there are upsides to leaving it as is.
You're not wrong for suggesting it. It may just differ from other peoples' perspectives.

  • Have to agree with you on this one. Although it doesn't always erupt, it's kind of weird that a bunch of NCPs are perfectly fine at trading or providing service right underneath an active volcano. Every other volcano is fine, but lore wise it doesn't make sense to have tents, taverns, and shops standing underneath such critical conditions

  • @king-lemon9544 they already nerfed its eruption frequency. Im not sure it needs removed. Maybe make it quake and smoke a little longer as a better warning.

Brian at Brian's Bazaar and Eleanor at Roaring Traders are also in the vicinity of a volcano and those islands get hit.

I guess, the shops & houses (and their occupants) are made of a sturdy material in the SoT, they never seems to get damaged when you lay down a barrage of cannonballs on an Outpost or Seapost either. They don't even need a short break after you detonate a (Stronghold) Gunpowder Barrel close to them.

  • 100% agree. The outpost volcano isn't fun and emergent gameplay. It lends nothing to the game besides frustration.
