Salty sea dog

  • With the closing of the arena, I hope they come up with some use for the island on the adventure map. That sea dogs arena island is such an underutilized resource.

  • I think they should have the arena tavern accessible in adventure and call it the training grounds which will be tdm for people on the server that want to engage in consensual combat.

It'll be like arena and won't have ferry visits and I think there should be an optional mode parties can vote on which will tally the hits/ kills but not actually result in deaths so players on a server can enter and just shoot and target practice as long as they want without deaths and revives.

Majority rules so if a friendly crews are using it to practice with each other they can keep it on tally mode so sweats can still play but they can't just come in and keep everyone that isn't highly competitive dead instantly

  • @wolfmanbush You may have been thinking this as well, but have the ability to enable friendly fire in there as well so that you don't need 2 ships to tdm as well as adding ammo chests in the tavern

this would make it much better as well imo

people can load up a galleon with friends and have a shootout

tdm gets a bad rap because of how unpleasant it is to be camped by highly skilled players but the art itself is the least negative type of combat in the game imo. It's people agreeing to compete on terms that they arrange. It's not the ambush hunting that this game truly is for combat it is organized competition.

People engaging in it together in an area where they agree to it isn't harmful to the environment at all.

At worst it doesn't change much at all but still gives people another way to practice and compete

at best it draws people out of the desperation for action and keeps them away from adventurers

There will always be people that are just out to ruin experiences of others but the combat style itself is easily the least damaging combat style in the game.

Personally I think it should have been embraced as a style long ago and just held people accountable that go beyond the style and get into poor treatment of others. The style has never been a cesspool of toxicity imo it's just that everything related to camping gets attached to consensual and competitive combat, a mistake imo.
