Hey,
so my pc isnt very good, but as i check on many sites and with many friends, it should be able to handle sea of thieves to some extent. However it doesnt. I play on lowest graphics possible, also downloaded a modified engine package to be able to play smoother, but 20 fps is all i get. Doesnt matter if i use medium or low settings. With high it obviously drops. Am I doing something wrong? Please help me
My very good potato build:
CPU: Intel i3-8145U 2.1GHz with boost to 3.9GHz
RAM: 8Gb
GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620
Running on HDD
Fps wont go past 20 no matter what
To run this game at 30 fps with your hardware you would need to run at a max of 540p resolution. which would actually already be running below minimum system specs
but even then i can tell you it will never be a great experience, for a multitude of reasons:
- you are running below minimum system specs
- you are running the game from a hard drive (resulting in LONG load times)
- while your CPU has boost capabilities to 3.9 GHZ i doubt it can sustain that without Baller cooling (which looking at your other system specifications i doubt you have)
- the RAM supported by your CPU is slow, which also results in loading issues and since your GPU is integrated in your CPU this means it uses part of that slow RAM as VRAM
To run this game at 720p @ 30 FPS you would need:
- Intel Q9450 @ 2.6GHz or AMD Phenom II X6 @ 3.3 GHz
- 4+ GB of RAM
- NVidia GeForce GTX 1030 or AMD Radeon R7 450 with at least 1GB of dedicated VRam
While yes your CPU is technically newer and supports better ram then the above, it is still pretty bottom of the barrel and i do not mean any disrespect by that. however you GPU just cannot handle this kind of load, its not what integrated GPU's are designed to do to be perfectly honest.
you might have a chance at running it at 30 fps if you would upgrade to a dedicated graphics card that falls within spec but i cannot guarantee anything
since you are unable to run it lower then 940p you would even be between 720p and 1080p in graphics requirements and the 1080p requirements simply outclass pretty much all of your hardware
@karafakeu As a first notice, downloading a 'modified engine package' is probably not a great thing as any modified files can be detected and flagged as 'cheating'.
There is no file that will make your hardware magically be better and as such is not worth the risk.

@karafakeu Might also consider Game pass ultimate and streaming it to your pc fr the cloud. You need to have pretty solid internet but that could be your ticket to a decent experience.
Well I assume you are playing off a laptop. Is the only gpu inside the intel integrated? SoT is way more gpu heavy than cpu so if you don’t really have a gpu that is what is causing the problem. I have seen some others say this and I agree, if you have gamepass ultimate you could stream SoT to your pc through xcloud which is the same as playing on an Xbox series x (60fps ssd quick load times)
Your specs aren't great at all, I have a PC with similar specs and it would never run Sea of Thieves.
My rig is
GTX 1650 Super
Ryzen 5 3500
16 GB Ram
1 TB SSD
And I still drop below 60 FPS near outposts running the game at 2560x1440 no matter what graphics settings I use.
Your PC is simply too low end, you could try to find some videos I have seen a few claim to increase FPS in Sea of Thieves nut you'd just have to check it out. At most you may get 25-30 fps but I wouldn't expect any higher than that.
