Alliance Repercussions

  • As far as my understanding:

    • An alliance can be as large as you desire.

    • When in an alliance; if you, or your crew sells loot, you’ll receive 100% of the profit. If another crew in your alliance sells loot, you’ll receive 50% of the profit, regardless of alliance size.

Where is the extra money coming from? The last time I checked, people won’t give away an extra 50%+ capital just because you made some friends. Large alliances are an unfair advantage to solo crews.

An idea to fix this is:

    • Split profit equally among all alliance members. (Option 1: 2 members 50-50%, 3 members 33-33-33%, etc. or unrealistically; Option 2: 2 members 75-75%, 3 members 50-50-50%, etc.)

This is my first post so please give me all the criticism I need.

If you already think alliances should have a repercussion with the 'motto' of "where is that extra money coming from", you should even more call for repercussions for crews.

Think of the following situations where someone sells a mermaid gem for 1,000 gold.

Solo sloop in alliance with other solo sloop: 1,000 (seller) + 500 (ally) = 1,500 total
    Duo sloop: 1,000 (seller) + 1,000 (crewmate) = 2,000 total

A crewmate is also a form of an alliance, only an alliance on the same ship. And that creates even more extra money....
As long as we find it normal that extra money is created for crewmates, it's a bit hypocritical to be 'offended' by extra money created for alliances, since an alliancemember creates less extra money then a crewmember.

  • Who said it should be shared 😈

    It's Sea Of Thieves, Mate.
After FOTD, you better be prepared for the worst, because the actual game begin
75% of the time, I betray or get betrayed. 25% was just GOOD diplomacy (sometime, Athena doesn't get involve)

    Don't trust anyone, even yourself.

Someone, somewhere, along time ago, mentioned why your idea to fix this (not broken to fix, BTW) won't work.

  • Wouldn't work because people would not be willing to lose any percentage of their hard earned treasure and players would stop forming alliances.

For this kind of realistic sharing concept the loot in question would have to be some kind of special, very valuable treasure (say, a cache of Boxes of Wondrous Secrets or something) that can only be obtained by cooperating with others, a la Glitterbeard. I know people around here don't usually like mandatory cooperation, but I'd be all for it in that case.

  • @super87ghost You’re completely right. I never thought about that, in that way.

I wanted there to be a slight repercussion for an alliance, especially big ones. My idea was complete baloney. I was still salty from losing my Tier 5 Athena Emissary with 3 Chests of Legends to an alliance with everyone else on the server when I wrote about the idea. I still believe there should be some limitations to alliances, but I don’t know a fair way to execute them.

I was thinking, maybe the map should show alliances on the map. Then again, what would the point of Tier 5 Reapers Emissary be if they’re all an emissary.

There would be no point. It's just people making money to buy cosmetics. No reason to penalize them.

Games are supposed to be fun. Taxes and operating costs aren't any fun.

  • @smoggless5392 originally crews got 100% even if they didn’t sale loot but I’m the long run it doesn’t matter how much gold you make it’s only spent on cosmetics so why does it matter if a crew make extra gold from being in an alliance

  • The repercussion is being visible on the map to other alliance ships at all times, making it very easy to be betrayed.

  • I agree there should be a balancing factor to counter everyone alliances as theres no drawback, guess that's the way rare wanted it though so unlikely to change

  • @smoggless5392 where comes the extra money comparing solo sloop vs 4 man galleon? If alliance gets a nerf, bigger crews should also get a money nerf...according to your statement

Edit: oh, this has been basicly said already, so no reply needed 😉
