Since we already have sea encounters in the form of skeleton/ghost ships, megs, and the kraken. Why not add a new RARE-ish world boss in the form of a leviathan?! The leviathan wouldn't be encountered based on proximity or by firing at it. A crew would need to intentionally initiate the encounter. This leviathan would randomly spawn on servers and roam around the map marked by a huge dark figure slithering beneath the water. You wouldn't know of its presence on the server until you see the massive figure moving in the water nearby. In order to engage the leviathan, you would need to initiate the encounter by firing a special kind of flare into the sky. This flare would do two things, it would first initiate the encounter and it would send up a beacon to other players on the server. This beacon would work like the Fort of the Damned cloud, signaling players on the server that the leviathan is on the server and has been engaged. The cloud would only become active in the sky if the leviathan is in close proximity to where the flare has been launched. This would prevent players from just firing this special flare randomly into the sky to see if the leviathan is on the server. This encounter would be extremely difficult to complete as a solo crew, but not impossible. I think this would be a great opportunity to add an event to the game that encourages other crews to work together. I would suggest adding a single random cosmetic reward for completing the encounter to help encourage players to work together rather than trolling. Once the encounter has been completed, this would unlock a commendation, a single random cosmetic, and a title similar to the Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost for all members involved. The single cosmetic reward would be random for every member involved and would encourage players to complete additional encounters to obtain the entire set.
