Ashen Athena Yields No Athena?

  • I just did a long session with my friend on my sloop, and we did 2 Ashen Voyages back to back and didn't get a single Athena treasure piece aside from the Chest. Are we super unlucky or has anyone else noticed weird stuff?

  • Day 2 of running Ashen Athena voyages, and still not a single piece of Athena Treasure except for the Chest of Legend. The voyage IS from the Captain Bundle you buy from the shipwrights.

    5 Ashen Athena voyages in a row....please rare D|

    Geettttt Rareeddd.

Also... Why did you decide to do ashen Athenas while we have veils? Did one of those new pan trinkets fall on your head XD

Or are you trying to unlock the forsaken ashes interior set while getting a bit of athena rep?

  • @thorumsu

I didn't know Veil quests could be locked to the Devil's Roar if you trigger them there, and some days I prefer the relative safety of the volcanoes over the player-ridden open waters outside. Now that I know they can I'll ignore them.

On the plus side, my non-legendary friends got a ton of rep.

  • Ahoy!

Ashen Athena voyages came out way before they introduced Athena treasure. The only Athena item that existed when the devils roar update came out was the ashen Athena chest. The same can be said for regular Athena voyages (Unless they changed it recently), and as far as I am aware of, the only voyages that produce Athena treasure is the legendary voyage of thieves haven and the legendary veil voyages

Nope. They both gave normal athena stuff too. The ones you buy from the pirate lord still does too.

Athena treasure in the regular legendary Athena run and the ashen version too? I'm not sure I understand what you mean

  • @thorumsu You could grind those as a faster way to unlock the ghost cabin cosmetics since every normal athena voyage gives you +9 on that pirate milestone instead of the +3 on the veil voyage, that's probably what I'm going to do later and since the ashen voyages would technically be faster than a normal athena voyage that seems like the play.

I did the Ashen Athenas simply because they were worth more than their normal counterparts, and I know the Devil's Roar like the back of my hand. I feel safe in the Devil's Roar simply because no one else likes to go there. When I am alone I prefer to stay that way.

  • @catilena1890 That's another reason I've thought about grinding them because nobody goes there so if I wanna grind those cabin cosmetics that sounds like the better option, faster to complete and less likely to have a ship roll up on you then you get the added bonus of the athena chest. The veil is fun and does technically give more rep but I'm not too concerned with leveling up to 30 at least not immediately.

  • @navillicious

I feel as though the Veil does more for your rep right now. I did two Veil voyages back to back and made 300k from it, and you get a guaranteed Level 5 Emissary. If you start a Veil in the Devil's Roar, it stays in the Devil's Roar.

Even when it was functional, Ashen Athena voyages only had maybe 3-5 Athena trinkets in addition to the Chest, and it was a treat if I got to Grade 4 when I got the Chest.

I could be wrong, but I feel like Veil is much faster. Takes roughly 2 hours to get a single AA Done.

  • @catilena1890 Ah I didn't think about starting the veil in the roar that's actually pretty good since the roar is more compact you can move between steps faster

  • @navillicious

Yeah my buddy and I noticed that last night. So grab a bundle from the Shipwrights, run to an Island in the Roar, then Start it. The only real caveat is it might be goofy and send you to like, Kraken's Fall or something, but that's still a rather neglected part of the map.

My suggestion is start deep inland, like at Morrow's Peak or Ruby's Fall.

  • @catilena1890 Yeah if it can send you to kraken's fall I would think you would just need to start the voyage furter in the roar but like you said nobody really goes there anyways and it's not that far from the roar to begin with.

I guess my next question would be is that still faster to knock out the athena pirate milestone than doing a normal ashen athena, sure it's faster but you only make +3 progress on a veil so would you be able to knock out 3 veil voyages before knocking out one ashen athena which would give you a +9 to the milestone? I feel like if your efficient enough you can knock out ashen athenas pretty fast especially if you don't pick up any of the loot minus the actual athena chest so while as far as rep gains go the veil would be a better choice but for the pirate milestone it might still be better to run the ashen athena depending on what you're prioritizing.

  • @navillicious

That's what I used to do prior to this milestone thing, I would run Ashen Athena's and ONLY take Athena Loot, but even speed-running it that's still 9 maps to choke through, and would take maybe an hour at best. I was cracking out those Veils back to back, I could run at LEAST 2 Veils in the time it takes for me to do One AA.

  • @catilena1890 Yeah which definitely puts veil at the top if you're farming rep for athena, I membah back in the day farming to athena 10 only grabbing the ashen athena chest, it seems if you want the ghost cosmetics for your ship's cabin though it might be faster to bang out the 9 maps to get that progress since you can do 9 maps probably faster than 3 veils especially if you're solo or just on a sloop.
